Coluccio returns to the podium in OK
The first round of the WSK Euro Series at Sarno was marked by a reinforcement of the official Birel ART training in KZ2, rewarded by the presence of three drivers in the top 10 overall. In OK, Luigi Coluccio completed a very nice meeting by taking 2nd position in the Final as well as the Championship.
“The aim of this race was to finalise the preparation for the KZ1 and KZ2 FIA Karting European Championship, which will be held at Sarno on 16th June,” explained Ronni Sala, President of Birel ART Group. “With five drivers involved, the team was able to do a very good job with the equipment and performance has progressed well. Longhi, Kremers and Irlando kept up a very good pace, while Marseglia and Loubère gained solid experience. We are also very pleased to have enabled Coluccio to fight for victory in OK within a month of the first meeting of the FIA Karting European Championship.”
Coluccio regains his rank in OK
One week after the last event of the WSK Super Master Series, Team Birel ART Racing remained at Sarno for the start of the WSK Euro Series. Luigi Coluccio quickly joined the top three in the OK category in the heats and during the Prefinal. He again increased the pace in the Final and managed to take a very nice 2nd place among a top-class international field. During this time, Thomas Nepveu solidified his progress by moving up to 16th position in the Final before being penalised.
Peak performance in KZ2
Alex Irlando made an excellent start to the meeting by taking 4th in Timed Practice, 3rd at the end of the heats and 2nd in his Prefinal. The start of the Final was not favourable for him and he had to settle for 12th position at the finish, but his overall performance was enough to enter the top five of the Euro Series. Marijn Kremers kept on climbing from his 16th in Qualifying. Back to 5th in his Prefinal, he was still gaining ground in the Final with an interesting 7th place. The best performance came from Riccardo Longhi on his first international event of the season. After 5th in the heats, he won his Prefinal with the fastest lap in the race. Riccardo then fought in the top five of a very competitive Final and eventually finishing 3rd in the WSK Euro Series standings.
The young Leonardo Marseglia confirmed his progress in his first year in KZ2. He finished 15th in the Final despite a difficult start to the race. French Champion of 2017 and 7th in the European Championship in 2018, Pierre Loubère contested his first race with the Birel ART team. Increasingly confident in his kart, he finished 21st.
The FIA Karting European Championship – OK and OK-Junior will start at the end of April in Angerville (FRA) while that of KZ and KZ2 will start at the beginning of May in Wackersdorf (DEU).
Ritorno di Coluccio sul podio
La prima prova della WSK Euro Series disputata a Sarno è stata segnata da un potenziamento della formazione ufficiale Birel ART nella KZ2 completata dalla presenza di tre piloti nella Top-10 della classifica generale. Nella OK, le performance di Luigi Coluccio durante il meeting sono state molto buone riuscendo a centrare la seconda posizione in finale e in campionato.
“Questa gara aveva lo scopo di finalizzare la preparazione del Campionato europeo FIA Karting delle categorie KZ e KZ2 il cui atto finale è previsto a Sarno il 16 giugno”, ha spiegato Ronni Sala, Presidente di Birel ART Group. “Con cinque piloti impegnati, il team ha potuto svolgere un ottimo lavoro sul mezzo e le performance sono andate crescendo. Longhi, Kremers e Irlando hanno girato a un ottimo ritmo, mentre Marseglia e Loubère hanno accumulato una solida esperienza. Siamo inoltre molto felici di aver potuto permettere a Coluccio di battersi per la vittoria nella OK a meno di un mese dal primo appuntamento del Campionato europeo FIA Karting.”
Coluccio ritrova il suo posto nella OK
Una settimana dopo l’ultima prova della WSK Super Master Series, il team Birel ART Racing è rimasto a Sarno per l’inizio della WSK Euro Series. Luigi Coluccio ha subito raggiunto la Top-3 della categoria OK nelle manche e durante la prefinale. Ha alzato ancora il ritmo in finale ed è riuscito a conquistare un bellissimo secondo posto davanti a uno dei parterre internazionali più importanti. Nel frattempo, Thomas Nepveu ha concretizzato la sua gara rimontando fino al sedicesimo posto della finale per poi essere penalizzato.
Performance centrate nella KZ2
Alex Irlando ha iniziato il meeting in modo eccellente ottenendo il quarto posto nelle prove cronometrate, il terzo al termine delle manche e il secondo nella sua prefinale. La partenza della finale non gli è stata favorevole e ha dovuto accontentarsi del dodicesimo posto all’arrivo, ma la sua prestazione, nel complesso, gli ha permesso di rientrare nei Top-5 dell’Euro Series. Marijn Kremers ha continuato a rimontare dal suo sedicesimo tempo nelle prove cronometrate. Quinto nella sua prefinale, ha guadagnato ancora del terreno in finale con un’interessante settimo posto. La migliore prestazione è stata quella di Riccardo Longhi che era alla sua prima prova internazionale della stagione. Quinto al termine delle manche, ha vinto la sua prefinale facendo registrare anche il giro più veloce in gara. Riccardo si è battuto poi nei Top-5 in una finale molto combattuta fino a concludere al terzo posto della classifica provvisoria della WSK Euro Series.
Il giovane Leonardo Marseglia ha confermato la sua progressione nel suo primo anno di KZ2. Ha concluso al quindicesimo posto in finale nonostante un inizio gara difficile. Campione francese nel 2017 e settimo nel Campionato europeo 2018, Pierre Loubère ha disputato la sua prima gara con il team Birel ART. Sempre più fiducioso nel suo kart, ha terminato al 21° posto.
Il Campionato europeo FIA Karting OK e Junior inizierà a fine aprile ad Angerville (Francia) mentre quello KZ e KZ2 inizierà ai primi di maggio a Wackersdorf (Germania).
Retour de Coluccio sur le podium OK
La première épreuve de la WSK Euro Series disputée à Sarno a été marquée par un renforcement de la formation officielle Birel ART en KZ2 couronnée par la présence de trois pilotes dans le top 10 du classement général. En OK, Luigi Coluccio a réussi un très beau meeting en prenant la 2e position de la finale comme du championnat.
« Cette course avait pour but de finaliser la préparation du Championnat d’Europe FIA Karting des catégories KZ et KZ2 dont la conclusion aura lieu à Sarno le 16 juin » expliquait Ronni Sala, Président de Birel ART Group. « Avec cinq pilotes engagés, l’équipe a pu effectuer un très bon travail sur le matériel et les performances ont bien progressé. Longhi, Kremers et Irlando ont roulé sur un très bon rythme, tandis que Marseglia et Loubère engrangeaient une solide expérience. Nous sommes par ailleurs très heureux d’avoir pu permettre à Coluccio de se battre pour la victoire en OK à moins d’un mois du premier rendez-vous du Championnat d’Europe FIA Karting. »
Coluccio retrouve son rang en OK
Une semaine après la dernière épreuve de la WSK Super Master Series, le Team Birel ART Racing est resté à Sarno pour le lancement de la WSK Euro Series. Luigi Coluccio a rapidement rejoint le top 3 de la catégorie OK dans les manches et lors de la préfinale. Il haussait encore le rythme en finale et réussissait à décrocher une très belle 2e place en présence d’un plateau international des plus relevés. Pendant ce temps, Thomas Nepveu concrétisait son évolution en remontant jusqu’à la 16e position de la finale avant d’être pénalisé.
Performances au rendez-vous en KZ2
Alex Irlando réalisait un excellent début de meeting en pointant 4e des essais chronométrés, 3e à l’issue des manches et 2e de sa préfinale. Le départ de la finale ne lui était pas favorable et il devait se contenter de la 12e position à l’arrivée, mais sa prestation globale remarquée lui valait de rentrer dans le top 5 de l’Euro Series. Marijn Kremers ne cessait de remonter depuis son 16e chrono. Revenu 5e dans sa préfinale, il regagnait encore du terrain en finale avec une intéressante 7e position. La meilleure prestation était le fait de Riccardo Longhi à l’occasion de sa première épreuve internationale de la saison. Revenu 5e à l’issue des manches, il remportait sa préfinale en signant le meilleur tour en course. Riccardo se battait ensuite dans le top 5 d’une finale très disputée et atteignant pour finir la 3e place du classement provisoire de la WSK Euro Series.
Le jeune Leonardo Marseglia confirmait sa progression pour sa première année en KZ2. Il terminait 15e de la finale malgré un début de course difficile. Champion de France 2017 et 7e du Championnat d’Europe en 2018, Pierre Loubère disputait sa première course dans l’équipe Birel ART. De plus en plus confiant dans son kart, il terminait au 21e rang.
Le Championnat d’Europe FIA Karting – OK et Junior débutera fin avril à Angerville (FRA) tandis que celui des KZ et KZ2 commencera début mai à Wackersdorf (DEU).
