Stanno arrivando da tutto il mondo i protagonisti che dal 2 al 7 Ottobre si daranno battaglia al Poetto per il Campionato mondiale assoluto di KITEBOARD nella nuova classe olimpica del race.
Tra essi anche nomi illustri ed ex medaglie olimpiche del windsurf.
Il campionato, organizzato dallo Yacht Club Cagliari, è diventato importantissimo a livello mondiale, dopo la recente decisione dell’ISAF (International Sailing Federation), massimo organo della vela che ha deciso di inserire il kitesurf alle prossime olimpiadi brasiliane nella disciplina del racing.
Essendo questo il primo mondiale del quadriennio olimpico, le varie Federazioni nazionali stanno facendo trasmigrare tanti ex campioni del windsurf verso lo sport con l’ala-aquilone che fa avanzare la tavola. Soprattutto come tecnici e dirigenti.
Chris Sieber, il viennese medaglia d’oro alle Olimpiadi di Sidney nel 2000, arriverà il 30 nel capoluogo sardo alla guida del team austriaco.
Mike Gebbhart, medaglia di bronzo a Seul nell’88 e argento a Barcellona nel ’92, arriva a Cagliari già domani, perché oltre che guidare il team USA, svolgerà insieme al CRO (Chief Race Officer) Mirco Babini, durante la settimana, uno stage sul miglioramento delle tecniche di regata per diversi atleti internazionali.
Ma il nome più importante del mondo del windsurf, ora dedicato al kite, è forse quello di Alex Aguera, il campionissimo protagonista per tre lustri della World Cup di windsurf dietro Robby Naish e Bjorn Dunkerbeck, che dal 2000, sin dalle prime gare agonistiche, si è dedicato al kitesurf come contest director della World Tour PKRA.
Aguera, torna in Sardegna 32 anni dopo aver vinto a Baia Sardinia il Mondiale a squadre Windsurfer, come shaper (costruttore) di una delle migliori tavole da kite nel racing.
Intanto le iscrizioni hanno raggiunto il numero record di 208 iscritti ed il programma prevede due campi di gara spettacolari vicino a riva nel Golfo degli angeli, con l’area base che si estenderà dalla sesta fermata al vecchio ospedale Marino.
MARTEDI’ 2 in programma la presentazione e le stazzature.
Ogni atleta potrà disporre di una tavola e 3 ALI CON UNA EVENTUALE QUARTA stazzata IN BASE ALLE CONDIZIONI DEL VENTO SE FOSSE OLTRE I 25 NODI .
MERCOLEDI 3 le prime gare DI PROVA E IL GIOVEDI 4 PRIMA REGATA UFFICIALE DI CAMPIONATO.

COMING FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD LEADERS FOR THE WORLD KITE RACING
They’re coming from all over the world, the stars that October 2 to 7 will battle for the World Championship of kiteboarding in the new Olympic class of racing (at Poetto Beach Sardinia October 2 to 7) .
Among them is also famous names and former Olympic medal for windsurfing.
The championship, organized by the Yacht Club Cagliari, has become very important in the world, after the recent decision of ISAF (International Sailing Federation), the highest body of the sail has decided to enter the kite to the next Olympics in Brazil in the discipline of racing.
Since this is the first of four Olympic years, the various federations are doing transmigrate many former champions of the sport of windsurfing to kiteboarding. Especially as technicians and managers.
Chris Sieber, the Viennese gold medal at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, will reach the Sardinian capital as the head of the Austrian team.
Mike Gebbhart, bronze medalist in Seoul in ’88 and silver in Barcelona in ’92, comes in Cagliari as well as leader of the U.S. team. He will play together with the CRO (Chief Race Officer) Mirco Babini, during the week, one stage on the improved techniques of racing for several international athletes.
But the biggest name in the world of windsurfing, now devoted to the kite, is perhaps Alex Aguera, the leading champion for fifteen years behind the World Cup windsurfing Robby Naish and Bjorn Dunkerbeck,. Since 2000, since the first kite competition, Alex idedicated to kitesurfing, becoming also the contest director of the PKRA World Tour.
Aguera comes back in Sardinia after 32 years, when he won the World Championsih Windsurfer team sailing in Baia Sardinia. Now he is a shaper (manufacturer) of one of the best boards in kite racing.
Meanwhile, enrollment reached a record number of 208 members, and the program has two fields with spectacular race close to shore in the Angels Gulf, with the base area that will extend from the sixth bus stop to the old hospital Marino.
