European Championships in Pelvoux

Golden medals for Italy (men) and Switzerland (women)

Extreme cold did not spoil the amazing show of the team race that took place on the first day of Ski Mountaineering European Championships in Pelvoux, France. Earlier this morning Italy took the first golden medal of the Championships, leaving behind French and Swiss teams.
Manfred Reichegger and Lorenzo Holzknecht have been leading the race for its entire duration. Just behind them Valentin Favre and Alexis Sevennec. The two French, not having respected the regulations in the part on foot, were then disqualified by the
International Jury.
The Italian team confirms for good the leadership in the third ascent and then finishes the competition in 1.51.39 time. The second place goes to the French Yannick Buffet and Matheo Jacquemoud. To complete the podium the Swiss Martin Anthamatten and Yannick Ecoeur with the result of 1.56.14.
In women's competition the Swiss Severine Pont Combe and Marie Troillet impose the
race's rate. Mireia Mirò Varela and Gemma Arrò Ribot control the second position having enough dominance over Emilie Gex-Fabry and Maude Mathys. The Swiss win in 2.05.41 time, the Spanish are second in 2.09.05. On the third step of the podium, consequently, the other Swiss team: Gex-Fabry and Mathys.
Tomorrow in Pelvoux the sprint race will take place. The competition begins at 10 a.m.

E’ all’insegna del freddo e dello spettacolo la prima giornata di gare dei Campionati Europei di scialpinismo a Pelvoux in Francia. Questa mattina l’Italia ha conquistato una bellissima medaglia d’oro davanti alla Francia e alla Svizzera. Manfred Reichegger e Lorenzo Holzknecht hanno condotto il gruppo per tutta la durata della gara alle loro spalle Valentin Favre e Alexis Sevennec. I due francesi per una scorrettezza in un tratto a piedi sono stati poi squalificati dalla giuria internazionale. Il Team Italia mette al sicuro la prima posizione nella terza salita. Alla fine chiudono la prova con 1.51.39. Salgono sul secondo gradino del podio Yannick Buffet e Matheo Jacquemoud. Completano il podio gli svizzeri Martin Anthamatten e Yannick Ecoeur con il tempo di 1.56.14.
Tra le donne sono le svizzere Severine Pont Combe e Marie Troillet a scandire il ritmo di gara, Mireia Mirò Varela e Gemma Arrò Ribot controllano la seconda posizione avendo un buon margine su Emilie Gex-Fabry e Maude Mathys. Le svizzere vincono con il tempo di 2.05.41, le spagnole sono seconde con 2.09.05. Sul terzo gradino del podio sale l’altra squadra svizzera formata da Gex-Fabry e da Mathys.
Domani a Pelvoux andrà in scena la prova sprint. Appuntamento alle ore 10.
