A strengthened and energetic team to start 2019
More than ever, Energy Corse justifies its status of a benchmark team in international karting, with an extensive race programme and a line-up of talented drivers in the main categories. The training of the youngest drivers, as well as the fight for podiums, will always be on the agenda for the team led by Mick Panigada.
Launch at the WSK Champions Cup
Several of the drivers announced for 2019 were at work at the end of January on the Adria circuit for the first big event of the season, the WSK Champions Cup, already with a very strong 60 Mini field, as well as many entries in OK-Junior. “Since our last race in 2018, we have not been inactive,” said Mick Panigada. “We continued the development of the equipment while solidifying agreements with our partners and engine builders. The races are continuing at a constant pace and it was important to be ready for the Champions Cup.”
With several qualified drivers among the 34 finalists, the Energy Corse team has made the most of its season debut and has already celebrated its first two top 10 finishes in 60 Mini, with 7th place for the Russian Dmitriy Matveev and 9th for the Jamaican Alex Powell, also winner of several heats.
The Russian drivers have definitely shown that they are not lacking in talent in getting noticed in OK-Junior. In the Final, Roman Shaparov made a 13-place climb to cross the finish 18th, two positions ahead of his Dutch team-mate Robert De Haan. The latter was penalised for his spoiler, as was Maksim Soldatov (25th), who had brilliantly ranked 6th in his Prefinal. Recent winner of the Rotax Max Grand Finals in Brazil, De Haan deserved better after finishing the heats in 7th position.
De Haan: From the Rotax World Cup to the podium with Energy
The Energy Corse team stayed at the Adria circuit for the first of four WSK Super Master Series events, organised just a week later. It was raining during a major part of the meeting, but the dry track was back for the Finals. In 60 Mini, the Final ranking did not really reflect the performance of the drivers of the team who had started full of optimism after Prefinal A. In this race five Energy chassis finished in the top 10, with the top three places going to Kirill Kutskov (leader after the heats), Alex Powell and Dmitriy Matveev! In the end, the best position went to Alex Powell, 4th in the Final. Vladimir Verkholantsev (RUS), Yaroslav Trukhin (RUS), Marcus Saeter (NOR, Revolution Motorsport) and German Foteev (RUS) also held the spotlight. Ranked 3rd in the Champions Cup Final B, Foteev returned to 11th the following week, this time in Final A.
In OK-Junior, Robert De Haan confirmed his talent by climbing on the second step of the podium after fighting all weekend at the forefront. The De Haan-Energy association has already produced sparks! Top threes for Powell and Johnson
The blue, red and white chassis are seen on the circuits throughout the world, such as the excellent results achieved by the AKT Energy Racing Team in the United States. At the SKUSA Winter Series, Alex Powell placed 2nd in the Mini Swift Race 1 at the first event in Miami, where the Florida Winter Tour also opened. Nikita Johnson took 3rd place in Mini Rok.
“We are pleased to have such motivated and high potential drivers in our team,” continued Mick Panigada. “At Adria, our squad was not yet complete, as other drivers will soon join us. When the KZ2 enter the track, we can also count on two very determined Swedish drivers, Emil Skaras and Isak Sijokvist, while two Australians will join the Energy Corse team for the FIA Karting international meetings.”
The 2019 Energy Corse programme will include the World and European FIA Karting events, all the WSK Promotion races, the Winter Cup in Lonato, the Andrea Margutti Trophy, the Supernationals in Las Vegas, the International Finals for IAME at Le Mans and the Rok Cup at Lonato, as well as the Italian Championship in 60 Mini! Una squadra rafforzata e piena di “energia” per iniziare il 2019
Più che mai, Energy Corse giustificherà il suo status di team di riferimento ai più alti livelli del karting internazionale proponendo un programma gare corposo e uno schieramento di piloti di talento nelle principali categorie. La formazione dei più giovani, come la conquista dei podi, saranno sempre all’ordine del giorno per il team guidato da Mick Panigada.
La WSK Champions Cup apre la stagione
Vari piloti annunciati per il 2019 erano già al lavoro alla fine del mese di gennaio sul circuito di Adria per la prima grande prova della stagione, la WSK Champions cup, con già un bel parterre nella 60 Mini, nonché numerosi piloti impegnati nella OK-Junior. “Dalla nostra ultima gara nel 2018, non siamo rimasti inattivi”, precisa Mick Panigada. “Abbiamo proseguito lo sviluppo del mezzo consolidando gli accordi con i nostri partner e i nostri preparatori. Le gare si susseguiranno a un ritmo sostenuto ed è importante essere pronti sin dalla Champions Cup.”
Con vari piloti qualificati tra i 34 finalisti, il team Energy Corse non ha mancato di essere presente al rientro e ha già festeggiato i primi due Top-10 nella 60 Mini, con il settimo posto del russo Dmitriy Matveev e il nono del giamaicano Alex Powell, vincitore tra l’altro di varie manche.
I piloti russi hanno dimostrato di essere dei piloti di qualità facendosi notare nella OK-Junior. In finale, Roman Shaparov ha fatto una rimonta di 13 posizioni per tagliare il traguardo al 18° posto, precedendo di due posizioni il suo compagno di squadra olandese Robert De Haan. Quest’ultimo è stato penalizzato per lo spoiler, così come Maksim Soldatov (25°) che si era brillantemente classificato sesto nella sua prefinale. Recente vincitore della Rotax Max Grand Finals in Brasile, De Haan meritava di meglio dopo aver terminato le manche in settima posizione.
De Haan: dal Mondiale Rotax al podio con Energy
Il team Energy Corse è rimasto sul circuito di Adria per la prima delle quattro prove della WSK Super Master Series, organizzata appena una settimana dopo. La pioggia ha accompagnato i piloti per la maggior parte del meeting, ma per le finali a pista si è asciugata. Nella 60 Mini, la classifica finale non ha rispecchiato le performance dei piloti del team che partivano pieni di ottimismo dopo la prefinale A, dove, in effetti, cinque telai Energy si erano classificati nella Top-10 con i tre primi posti di Kirill Kutskov (leader dopo le manche), Alex Powell e Dmitriy Matveev! Alla fine, il miglior piazzamento è stato di Alex Powell, quarto in finale. Anche Vladimir Verkholantsev (RUS), Yaroslav Trukhin (RUS), Marcus Saeter (NOR, Revolution Motorsport) e German Foteev (RUS) si sono messi in evidenza. Terzo classificato nella Finale B della Champions Cup, Foteev ha conquistato l’undicesimo posto la settimana dopo, questa volta nella Finale A.
Nella Ok-Junior, Robert De Haan ha confermato tutto il suo talento salendo sul secondo gradino del podio e battendosi tutto il week-end nelle prime posizioni. Powell et Johnson tra i primi 3
I telai blu, rosso e bianco si esprimono su tutti i circuiti del mondo attraverso gli eccellenti risultati ottenuti dall’AKT Energy Racing Team negli Stati Uniti. Allo SKUSA Winter Series, Alex Powell si è classificato secondo in Gara 1 nella Mini Swift durante la prima prova a Miami, dove si è assistito anche all’apertura del Florida Winter Tour. Nikita Johnson si è aggiudicato il terzo posto nella Mini Rok.
“Siamo contenti di avere nel nostro team dei piloti motivati con un elevato potenziale”, prosegue Mick Panigada. “Ad Adria, la nostra compagine non era ancora al completo e a breve ci raggiungeranno altri piloti. Une équipe renforcée et pleine d’énergie pour débuter 2019
Plus que jamais, Energy Corse va justifier son statut d’équipe de référence au plus niveau du karting international, en proposant un programme de courses étoffée et une “line-up” de pilotes de talent dans les principales catégories. La formation des plus jeunes, comme la conquête des podiums, seront toujours à l’ordre du jour pour l’équipe dirigée par Mick Panigada.
La WSK Champions Cup en guise de lancement
Plusieurs des pilotes annoncés pour 2019 étaient à pied d’oeuvre dès la fin du mois de janvier sur le circuit d’Adria pour la première grande épreuve de la saison, la WSK Champions Cup, avec déjà un très beau plateau en 60 Mini, ainsi que de nombreux engagés en OK-Junior. “Depuis notre dernière course en 2018, nous ne sommes pas restés inactifs,” précise Mick Panigada. “Nous avons poursuivi le développement du matériel, tout en solidifiant des accords avec nos partenaires et nos motoristes. Les courses vont s’enchaîner à un rythme soutenu et il était important d’être prêt dès la Champions Cup.”

La pluie était bien présente durant une grosse partie du meeting, mais la piste sèche était de retour pour les finales. En 60 Mini, le classement final n’a pas vraiment reflété les performances des pilotes du team qui partaient plein d’optimisme après la préfinale A. Dans celle-ci en effet, 5 châssis Energy se sont placés dans le top-10, avec les trois premières places pour Kirill Kutskov (leader après les manches), Alex Powell et Dmitriy Matveev ! Finalement, la meilleure place revenait ensuite à Alex Powell, 4e de la finale. Vladimi Verkholantsev (RUS), Yaroslav Trukhin (RUS), Marcus Saeter (NOR, Revolution Motorsport) et German Foteev (RUS) se sont également mis en valeur. Classé 3e de la Finale B à la Champions Cup, Foteev est revenu 11e la semaine suivante, cette fois dans la Finale A.
En OK-Junior, Robert De Haan a confirmé tout son talent en montant sur la 2e marche du podium et en se battant tout le week-end aux avant-postes. L’association De Haan-Energy a déjà fait des étincelles ! Quant à Maksim Soldatov et Roman Shaparov, ils ont encore gagné leur place pour la finale au volant de leur Energy Corse-TM Racing. A la SKUSA Winter Series, Alex Powell s’est classé 2e de la Course 1 en Mini Swift lors de la première épreuve à Miami, où s’est également déroulée l’ouverture de la Florida Winter Tour. Nikita Johnson y a pris la 3e place en Mini Rok.
“Nous sommes heureux d’avoir dans notre équipe des pilotes motivés, avec un potentiel élevé,” poursuit Mick Panigada. “A Adria, notre effectif n’était pas encore au complet, puisque d’autres pilotes vont très bientôt nous rejoindre. Lorsque les KZ2 entreront en piste, nous pourrons aussi compter sur deux pilotes Suédois très déterminés, Emil Skaras et Isak Sijokvist, tandis que deux Australiens intègreront le team Energy Corse pour les meetings internationaux FIA Karting.”
