Organised this year in Finland, the FIA Karting World Championship in OK was a great sporting and popular success.
In front of full stands, Lorenzo Travisanutto won a second consecutive world crown after an exciting Final. At a meeting with extremely changeable weather conditions, LeCont tyres played their role perfectly, ensuring performance, consistency and sporting fairness, both in the dry and the wet.
Optimum operating temperatures
The partnership between the CIK-FIA and tyre manufacturer LeCont for the 2019 season continued in Alahärmä, Finland with the longest-awaited event of the OK category: the World Championship. Located in the heart of the Power Park, the largest theme park in the country, the circuit, named after the former F1 driver Mika Salo has its share of difficulties for both drivers and teams, as it does for tyres. However, the LeCont brand met the expectations of the competitors, as confirmed by Paolo Bombara, Marketing Manager at LeCont.
“We have had excellent feedback on our tyres throughout the European Championship and we have been careful to maintain the same rigour and quality during this long trip to Finland. The weather conditions proved to be very difficult, but our tyres always managed to reach an ideal operating temperature to ensure both the efficiency of the equipment used by the drivers and the excitement of the races.”
Perfect management of the conditions
From Timed Practice on a perfectly dry track, LeCont was satisfied with a gap of one tenth between the four groups. Then, during the Qualifying Heats on Saturday and Sunday morning, the drivers faced almost every possible situation: dry lines, barely wet, almost flooded, drying, etc. Despite these extremely demanding circumstances, the number of incidents and skirmishes remained minimal despite the significant challenge of such a global event. Some drivers took the opportunity to highlight themselves in extreme conditions: sometimes on slicks on a wet track for example or for others in the downpours.
“I am pleased to see that safety has been ensured during the event. The efforts of the organisers, the promoter RGMMC and the CIK-FIA were not in vain, while our CIK-FIA homologated tyres proved to be well-adapted to the situation.”

Thanks to a new regulation adopted for the 2019 World Championships, the drivers were able to use an extra set of slick tyres for the Final, guaranteeing perfect sporting equality for all. Lorenzo Travisanutto won his duel with Juho Valtanen, the leader at the start of the race. At the end, the Finn was unable to counter the final rush of the two Britons Taylor Barnard and Harry Thompson, who accompanied the Italian champion on the podium. The excitement of the many spectators gathered around the circuit testified to the intensity of this Final. For LeCont, it was a new technological challenge that has been successfully met.
For a few months now, another challenge has begun for the Italian brand. “2020 marks the beginning of a new CIK-FIA tyre homologation cycle. LeCont has the technology, the knowledge, experience and a large production unit able to perfectly meet the stringent specifications of the international federation. We are ready to welcome their representatives for the planned inspection very soon.”
In addition, the end of the season is traditionally the period during which the next tenders for tyres are prepared. Already present in many countries, LeCont intends to continue its spread throughout the world and continue to demonstrate the quality of its racing products.
Un Campionato del mondo perfettamente gestito da LeCont
Il Campionato del mondo FIA Karting – OK, organizzato quest’anno in Finlandia, ha registrato un grande successo sportivo e di pubblico. Davanti alle tribune sold out, Lorenzo Travisanutto ha conquistato un secondo titolo mondiale consecutivo al termine di una finale appassionante. In occasione di un meeting durante il quale le condizioni meteo sono state estremamente variabili, gli pneumatici LeCont hanno svolto alla perfezione il loro compito assicurando performance, costanza ed equilibrio in termini sportivi, sull’asciutto e sul bagnato.
Temperature di esercizio ottimali
La partnership tra CIK-FIA e il fabbricante LeCont per questa stagione 2019 è continuata ad Alahärmä (Finlandia) con la tanto attesa prova dei concorrenti della categoria OK: il Campionato del mondo. Situato nel cuore del Power Park, il più grande parco divertimenti del paese, il tracciato, che porta il nome dell’ex pilota di F1 Mika Salo, presenta una serie di difficoltà sia per i piloti e i team che per gli pneumatici. Tuttavia, il marchio LeCont ha saputo rispondere alle attese dei concorrenti, come ha confermato Paolo Bombara, responsabile marketing di LeCont.
“Abbiamo avuto degli eccellenti feedback sui nostri pneumatici nel corso del Campionato europeo e abbiamo cercato di mantenere lo stesso rigore e la stessa qualità in occasione di questa trasferta in Finlandia. Le condizioni climatiche si sono tuttavia rivelate molto difficili, ma i nostri pneumatici sono sempre riusciti a raggiungere una temperatura di esercizio ideale per assicurare l’efficacia del mezzo utilizzato dai piloti e rendere le gare interessanti.”
Perfetta gestione delle condizioni
Sin dalle prove cronometrate disputate su una pista perfettamente asciutta, la soddisfazione di LeCont era d’obbligo, con uno scarto di un solo decimo tra i quattro gruppi. Poi, in occasione delle manche di qualificazione di sabato e domenica mattina, i piloti hanno affrontato quasi tutte le situazioni possibili: traiettorie asciutte, leggermente bagnate, quasi inondate, in fase di asciugatura, ecc. Malgrado queste circostanze estremamente difficili, il numero di incidenti e di contatti è stato minimo considerando anche l’importante posta in gioco di una prova mondiale. Alcuni piloti ne hanno approfittato per mostrare il loro talento in condizioni estreme a volte montando le slick su una pista umida o gareggiando sotto dei nubifragi.
“Sono contento di vedere che la sicurezza non è venuta meno durante la manifestazione. L’impegno degli organizzatori, del promotore RGMMC e della CIK-FIA non è stato vano, e anche i nostri pneumatici omologati CIK-FIA si sono rivelati adatti alla situazione.”

Grazie al nuovo punto del regolamento adottato per i Campionati del mondo 2019, i piloti hanno potuto utilizzare un ulteriore set di gomme slick per la finale, garantendo un perfetto equilibrio fra tutti in termini sportivi. Lorenzo Travisanutto ha vinto il suo duello con Juho Valtanen, leader a inizio gara. Sul finale, il finlandese non è riuscito a contenere il rush finale dei due inglesi Taylor Barnard e Harry Thompson, che hanno accompagnato il campione italiano sul podio. L’entusiasmo di numerosi spettatori riuniti attorno al circuito testimonia l’intensità di questa finale. Per quanto riguarda LeCont, si tratta di una nuova sfida tecnologica che è stata raccolta in modo magistrale.
Da alcuni mesi ormai, per il marchio italiano è iniziata una nuova sfida. “Il 2020 segna il debutto di un nuovo ciclo di omologazione degli pneumatici alla CIK-FIA. LeCont dispone di una tecnologia, di un know-how, di un’esperienza e di un’importante unità produttiva capaci di rispondere perfettamente al rigoroso disciplinare della federazione internazionale. Siamo pronti ad accogliere i loro rappresentanti per l’ispezione in programma a breve.”
Inoltre, la fine della stagione è tradizionalmente il periodo nel quale si preparano le successive gare d’appalto che riguardano gli pneumatici. Già presente in numerosi paesi, LeCont ha comunque l’intenzione di proseguire il suo sviluppo in tutto il mondo e continuare a dimostrare la qualità dei suoi prodotti destinati alle gare.
Un Championnat du Monde parfaitement maîtrisé par LeCont
Organisé cette année en Finlande, le Championnat du Monde FIA Karting – OK a vécu un grand succès sportif et populaire. Devant des tribunes pleines, Lorenzo Travisanutto a coiffé une deuxième couronne mondiale consécutive à l’issue d’une finale passionnante. Lors d’un meeting qui a connu des conditions météorologiques extrêmement changeantes, les pneumatiques LeCont ont parfaitement joué leur rôle, assurant performance, constance et équité sportive, sur le sec comme sous la pluie.
Des températures de fonctionnement optimales
Le partenariat entre la CIK-FIA et le manufacturier LeCont pour cette saison 2019 s’est poursuivi à Alahärmä en Finlande avec l’épreuve tant attendue des concurrents de la catégorie OK: le Championnat du Monde. Situé au cœur du Power Park, le plus grand parc d’attractions du pays, le tracé portant le nom de l’ex-pilote de F1 Mika Salo possède son lot de difficultés tant pour les pilotes et les teams, que pour les pneumatiques. Toutefois, la marque LeCont a su répondre aux attentes des compétiteurs, comme l’a confirmé Paolo Bombara, responsable marketing chez LeCont.
“Nous avons eu d’excellents retours sur nos pneumatiques tout au long du Championnat d’Europe et nous avons veillé à conserver la même rigueur et la même qualité à l’occasion de ce lointain déplacement en Finlande. Les conditions climatiques se sont pourtant révélées très difficiles, mais nos pneumatiques sont toujours parvenus à atteindre une température de fonctionnement idéale afin d’assurer aussi bien l’efficacité du matériel utilisé par les pilotes, que l’intérêt des courses.”
Parfaite gestion des conditions
Dès les essais chronométrés disputés sur une piste parfaitement sèche, la satisfaction était de mise chez LeCont, avec un écart d’un petit dixième entre les quatre groupes. Puis, lors des manches de qualification du samedi et du dimanche matin, les pilotes ont affronté presque toutes les situations possibles: trajectoires sèches, à peine détrempées, presque inondées, séchantes, etc. En dépit de ces circonstances terriblement exigeantes, le nombre d’incidents et d’accrochages est resté minime malgré l’enjeu important d’une telle épreuve mondiale. Certains pilotes en ont profité pour se révéler dans des conditions extrêmes: parfois en slicks sur une piste humide par exemple ou pour d’autres sous les trombes d’eau.
“Je suis satisfait de voir que la sécurité a été assurée durant la manifestation. Les efforts des organisateurs, du promoteur RGMMC et de la CIK-FIA n’ont pas été vains, tandis que nos pneumatiques homologués CIK-FIA se sont révélés adaptés à la situation. ”

Grâce au nouveau point de règlement adopté pour les Championnats du Monde 2019, les pilotes ont pu utiliser un set supplémentaire de pneumatiques slicks pour la finale, garantissant une parfaite équité sportive entre tous. Lorenzo Travisanutto a gagné son duel avec Juho Valtanen, leader en début de course. En fin de parcours, le Finlandais n’a pas réussi à contrer le rush final des deux Britanniques Taylor Barnard et Harry Thompson, lesquels ont accompagné le champion italien sur le podium. La ferveur des nombreux spectateurs massés autour du circuit témoignait de l’intensité de cette finale. Du côté de LeCont, c’est un nouveau défi technologique qui a été relevé avec brio.
Depuis quelques mois déjà, un autre challenge a démarré pour la marque italienne. “2020 marque le début d’un nouveau cycle d’homologation des pneumatiques à la CIK-FIA. LeCont dispose d’une technologie, d’un savoir-faire, d’une expérience et d’une importante unité de production capables de répondre parfaitement au rigoureux cahier des charges de la fédération internationale. Nous sommes prêts à accueillir leurs représentants pour l’inspection programmée très prochainement.”
En outre, la fin de saison est traditionnellement la période durant laquelle se préparent les prochains appels d’offres concernant les pneumatiques. Déjà présent dans de nombreux pays, LeCont a bien l’intention de poursuivre son implantation à travers le monde entier et continuer de démontrer la qualité de ses produits destinés à la compétition.
