The official Birel ART Racing team confirmed its incredible level of performance in the WSK Super Master Series with a victory and a podium in KZ2 at Lonato, a week after their double victory at the Winter Cup.
Giuseppe Palomba triumphed over his rivals and adverse circumstances at the end of a memorable Final that also saw Alessandro Irlando climb on the 3rd step of the podium. The Junior drivers also put in some great performances.
“It was a great weekend of very intense racing,” confided Ronni Sala, President of Birel ART, “The entry for this second WSK Super Master event was record-breaking, making the competition all the more difficult. We can be very satisfied with our competitiveness in KZ2. Not only did we win with Palomba, but all our drivers were able to finish in the top 14 and our brand was undoubtedly the best represented at the top of the table. The performances by Kucharczyk in 4th and Bertuca in 8th in OK-Junior were also remarkable.”
Always on top in KZ2
The Birel ART Racing Team has been accumulating performances throughout the competition. Alessandro Irlando and Riccardo Longhi set the two fastest times in Qualifying. Four heat wins and three fastest laps in the race later, Irlando and Giuseppe Palomba won the two Prefinals, with another fastest lap for Irlando who remained the record holder until the end of the race. Palomba raised the team’s tension when an incident occurred on the first lap of the Final. Stopped with a red flag, the race was back on for Palomba, who took the lead again and won by more than a second ahead of his rivals. Irlando gave his all to mount the 3rd step of the podium.
Longhi had started the meeting very well, but a multi-kart crash on accidental water tracks in the last heat and a race incident in Prefinal A ruined his efforts. Riccardo ended his run with a great demonstration: 16 places gained in eight laps to finish 8th on the line. Matthew Payne showed great fighting spirit with a 5th fastest lap in Qualifying. After his momentum was baulked during the heats, the New Zealander managed a great Final with a 16-place climb to 13th place. In a similar vein, Leonardo Marseglia was more imposing in the Final stages with a 14th position after a very convincing climb of 18 places.
Palomba and Irlando are in the top two places in the WSK Super Master Series ranking, which will finish in Sarno in a month’s time.
Performances to be confirmed in OK
In OK, Nikolas Pirrtilahti had some good heats and came back to 5th position in Prefinal A. He was running 7th in the Final, but unfortunately he couldn’t finish the race because of contact. Clayton Ravenscroft was unable to defend his chances due to rib pain and even had to retire in the Prefinal, while Kobe Pauwels missed out on qualification for the Final because of a spoiler penalty. Matteo Massetani had started too far back in Timed Qualifying to be among the 34 finalists.
The Juniors have the wind in their sails
Tymoteusz Kucharczyk confirmed his fighting spirit in the top group of the 94 OK-Juniors. Regularly in the top three of the heats, he finished 2nd in the Prefinal and fought in the top four during the entire Final, which allowed him to take 5th place in the provisional WSK Super Master ranking. Cristian Bertuca was able to show off after his 10th in Qualifying and made significant progress of 13 positions to 8th in the Final while Nikolay Violentii continued his international training. Emanuele Olivieri, the only driver entered in 60 Mini, was not far off the Final stages.

Seconda gara e seconda vittoria a Lonato
Il team ufficiale Birel ART Racing ha confermato il suo incredibile livello di performance nella WSK Super Master Series con una vittoria e un podio nella KZ2 a Lonato, una settimana dopo la doppietta della Winter Cup. Giuseppe Palomba ha trionfato sui suoi avversari e in circostanze avverse al termine di una finale memorabile che ha visto Alessandro Irlando salire sul terzo gradino del podio. Anche i piloti Junior hanno regalato delle belle performance.
“È stato un bel weekend di gare intense”, ha dichiarato Ronni Sala, Presidente di Birel ART. “Il parterre ha raggiunto dei record per questo secondo appuntamento della WSK Super Master, tanto più che la gara è stata molto difficile. Possiamo ritenerci soddisfatti della nostra competitività nella KZ2. Non soltanto abbiamo vinto con Palomba, ma tutti i nostri piloti hanno potuto concludere nella Top-14 e il nostro marchio è stato il meglio rappresentato nella parte alta della classifica. Anche le performance di Kucharczyk, quarto, e di Bertuca, ottavo, nella OK-Junior sono state di tutto rispetto.”
Sempre ai vertici nella KZ2
Il Team Birel ART Racing ha accumulato vari risultati positivi nel corso di tutta la competizione. Alessandro Irlando e Riccardo Longhi hanno fatto segnare subito all’inizio i due migliori tempi nelle prove di qualificazione. Con quattro vittorie nelle manche e tre giri più veloci in gara successivamente, Irlando e Giuseppe Palomba hanno vinto le due prefinali con un giro più veloce per Irlando che è rimasto il detentore del record della prova fino alla fine. Palomba ha fatto salire la tensione del team in occasione di un incidente al primo giro della finale. Interrotta con bandiera rossa, la gara è ripresa alla grande con Palomba in testa che si è lanciato verso una vittoria incontestabile con più di un secondo di vantaggio sui suoi rivali. Irlando ha dato il massimo per salire sul terzo gradino del podio.
Longhi aveva cominciato bene il meeting, ma un’uscita di pista collettiva su delle tracce d’acqua accidentali nell’ultima manche e un incidente di gara nella prefinale A hanno rovinato tutti i suoi sforzi. Riccardo ha terminato il suo percorso con una bella performance: rimonta di sedici posizioni in otto giri terminando all’ottavo posto. Matthew Payne si è dimostrato molto combattivo conquistando un quinto tempo. Frenato nella sua corsa durante le manche, il neozelandese è riuscito a disputare una bella finale con una rimonta di sedici posizioni finendo al tredicesimo posto. Stesso schema per Leonardo Marseglia che si è dimostrato più efficace nelle fasi finale con un quattordicesimo posto guadagnato grazie a una progressione molto convincente di diciotto posizioni.
Palomba e Irlando occupano i primi due posti nella classifica generale della WSK Super Master Series che si concluderà a Sarno tra un mese.
Prestazioni da confermare nella OK
Nella OK, Nikolas Pirrtilahti ha realizzato delle ottime manche riuscendo a rimontare in quinta posizione nella prefinale A. Era riuscito a rimontare al settimo posto nella finale, ma purtroppo non ha terminato la gara a causa di un contatto. In preda a dei dolori alle costole, Clayton Ravenscroft non è stato in grado di difendere le sue chance e ha dovuto persino rinunciare alla prefinale, mentre Kobe Pauwels ha sfiorato la qualifica in finale a causa di una penalità per spoiler. Matteo Massetani è partito troppo indietro nelle prove cronometrate per poter far parte dei 34 finalisti.
I Junior hanno il vento in poppa
Tymoteusz Kucharczyk ha confermato la sua combattività nel gruppo di testa dei 94 OK-Junior. Regolarmente presente nella Top-3 delle manche, ha terminato secondo nella prefinale e si è battuto nella Top-4 durante tutta la finale, ciò che gli ha permesso di occupare il quinto posto della classifica provvisoria della WSK Super Master. Cristian Bertuca ha potuto mettersi in luce a partire dalla sua decima posizione nelle prove cronometrate ed effettuare una progressione significativa di tredici posizioni all’ottavo posto della finale mentre Nikolay Violentii ha proseguito la sua formazione internazionale. Unico pilota impegnato nella 60 Mini, Emanuele Olivieri, ha sfiorato le fasi finali.

Deuxième course, deuxième victoire à Lonato
Le team officiel Birel ART Racing a confirmé son incroyable niveau de performance en WSK Super Master Series avec une victoire et un podium en KZ2 à Lonato, une semaine après le doublé de la Winter Cup. Giuseppe Palomba a triomphé de ses adversaires et de circonstances contraires à l’issue d’une finale mémorable qui a vu Alessandro Irlando monter sur la 3e marche du podium. Les pilotes Junior ont également assuré de belles performances.
« Ce fut un beau week-end de course très intense » confiait Ronni Sala, le Président de Birel ART. « Le plateau a atteint des records pour ce second rendez-vous de la WSK Super Master, la compétition n’en était que plus difficile. Nous pouvons être très satisfaits de notre compétitivité en KZ2. Non seulement nous avons gagné avec Palomba, mais tous nos pilotes ont pu terminer dans le top 14 et notre marque était incontestablement la mieux représentée dans le haut du tableau. Les prestations de Kucharczyk 4e et de Bertuca 8e en OK-Junior ont également été remarquables. »
Toujours au top en KZ2
Le Birel ART Racing Team a accumulé les performances pendant toute la compétition. Alessandro Irlando et Riccardo Longhi signaient pour commencer les deux meilleurs temps des essais qualificatifs. Quatre victoires de manche et trois meilleurs tours en course plus tard, Irlando et Giuseppe Palomba remportaient les deux préfinales, avec un nouveau meilleur tour pour Irlando qui restait détenteur jusqu’au bout du record de l’épreuve. Palomba faisait monter la tension de l’équipe lors d’un incident dès le 1er tour de la finale. Interrompue au drapeau rouge, la course reprenait de plus belle en tête pour Palomba qui filait vers une victoire incontestable plus d’une seconde devant ses rivaux. Irlando donnait le maximum pour monter sur la 3e marche du podium.
Longhi avait très bien commencé le meeting, mais une sortie de piste collective sur des traces d’eau accidentelles dans la dernière manche et un incident de course dans la préfinale A ruinaient tous ses efforts. Riccardo achevait son parcours sur une belle démonstration : 16 places regagnées en 8 tours pour finir 8e sur la ligne. Matthew Payne révélait une belle combativité avec un 5e chrono. Freiné dans son élan lors des manches, le Néo-Zélandais réussissait une belle finale agrémentée d’une remontée de 16 places au 13e rang. Sur un schéma similaire, Leonardo Marseglia se montrait plus conquérant dans les phases finales avec sa 14e position permise par une progression très convaincante de18 places.
Palomba et Irlando occupent les deux premières places au classement de la WSK Super Master Series qui se conclura à Sarno dans un mois.
Prestations à confirmer en OK
En OK, Nikolas Pirrtilahti réalisait de bonnes manches et revenait en 5e position de la préfinale A. Il se hissait au 7e rang de la finale, dommage qu’il n’ait pu terminer la course à cause d’un contact. En proie à des douleurs aux côtes, Clayton Ravenscroft n’était pas en mesure de défendre ses chances et devait même renoncer en préfinale, tandis que Kobe Pauwels passait à côté de sa qualification en finale à cause d’une pénalité de spoiler. Matteo Massetani était parti de trop loin au chrono pour pouvoir faire partie des 34 finalistes.
Les Juniors ont le vent en poupe
