FIA F3 SECOND ROUND /RACES 1 AND 2
The American driver Juan Manuel Correa was sixth and seventeenth respectively in the two F3 races that took place today, Saturday, at the Paul Ricard circuit, during the F1 French GP. In the first race he started from the fourth place and in the second from seventh. Tomorrow the third and last race of the weekend will be held at 11.40am (CET) and he will start from ninth position. After these two races, Juan Manuel is now 15th in the Championship, with six points.
The first race finished with five points in the bag after taking the sixth place, a race that Juan Manuel explains as follows:
“It was a positive race overall. Obviously, I’d have loved to take a podium, I think we had the car to achieve it, but I still need to make some improvements. I need to be more confident. During the race I had a good pace at the beginning, but by mid race I lost it a bit and then I recovered in the end. These things take time and pick up the pace after so long without competing is part of the process. The aim of the race was to stay in the front group and I did it, so I’m happy about that”.
The afternoon race was more complicated and that was clear for Juan Manuel early enough. He tried to change some settings together with the engineers in the three cars of the team, but the set up that had been chosen was not ideal and Juan Manuel was who suffered the most of the three drivers.
“I was a very tough race. We did some changes in the set up but they weren’t correct. They even made it harder for me to drive, so it was a complicated race for the three drivers, but it was more difficult for me than for my team mates too adapt myself and compensate with my driving the behaviour of the car”.
Juan Manuel always sees the positive side and in this situation he did it too.
“The good thing is that we have another race tomorrow. We’ll be back with setups more similar to race 1 and we’ll see how it goes. It’s a chance to fight again in front and see if we can get some more points. It was a positive day overall and we’ve learnt quite a bit. Let’s see how it goes tomorrow”.
