The Sodikart brand and its partner CPB Sport once again demonstrated the quality of their equipment in KZ2, dominating the opening round of the WSK Open Cup. In the wet as well as in the dry, the Sodi-TM packages proved to be impressive in Lonato. Senna Van Walstijn finished as the winner, while Adrien Renaudin completed his magnificent comeback with a 3rd place in the Final.
Two weeks after their podium finish at the KZ2 world event in Sweden, the CPB Sport team and Senna Van Walstijn made a winning return to South Garda Karting, where they won the Andrea Margutti Trophy at the beginning of the season. “It’s never easy to win at Lonato,” enthused French team manager Paul Bizalion. “It is the test track for most of the Italian factories and the best drivers have all their references there. The standard is always very high.”
Performing well in all conditions
With heat finishes of 3rd, 1st and 2nd, accompanied by a fastest lap in the race, Senna Van Walstijn made an excellent start to the meeting and positioned himself as a serious contender for victory at the beginning of the last day of competition. The rain arrived for the Prefinal and the Dutch driver was the fastest in these conditions, while ensuring his place on the front row for the Final. He made a perfect start to the race, took the lead in the Final and quickly extended his gap, before managing his lead until the end.
“A big thank you to the CPB Sport team, to the manufacturer Sodikart and to my engine tuner Cédric Sport Motors for having prepared such a high-performance kart for me. My only regret is that I won’t be able to defend my place as leader in the WSK Open Cup which will finish on October 3rd in Adria. However, on the same day, I will be in Ampfing to try to win the German Championship, as I am also leading the DKM.”
Renaudin: 32nd place to the podium
Adrien Renaudin’s Sodi-TM completed the KZ2 podium in Lonato. However, everything changed for Adrien in the second heat, when he was in the lead. “In WSK, each heat determines the starting order of the next one. As I dropped out in the second heat, I had to start 32nd in the next,” Adrien regretted. Thanks to a high level of performance, especially in the rain of the Prefinal, the French driver achieved a significant improvement to come back to 3rd in the Final.
Winner of one of the two races of the German Championship event the week before in Mülsen in DSKC, Thomas Imbourg was also part of the CPB Sport squad in Lonato. In this tough environment, he did not fail to show his talent, as he finished the race in 7th position. Unfortunately, he lost places in the Prefinal due to a penalty, before coming back to 13th in the Final.
“Sodikart and CPB Sport are having a wonderful season, with many podiums and many drivers of different nationalities at the front. In addition to the competitiveness of the equipment, our team is particularly well structured and organised, which is one of our strengths,” concluded Paul Bizalion.
Sodikart enchaîne succès et podiums
La marque Sodikart et son partenaire CPB Sport ont encore fait la démonstration de la qualité de leur matériel en KZ2, en dominant l’ouverture de la WSK Open Cup. Sous la pluie comme sur le sec, les ensembles Sodi-TM se sont montrés impressionnants à Lonato. Senna Van Walstijn a coupé l’arrivée en grand vainqueur, pendant qu’Adrien Renaudin achevait sa magnifique remontée par la 3e position en finale.
Deux semaines après leur podium lors de l’épreuve mondiale du KZ2 en Suède, le team CPB Sport et Senna Van Walstijn ont effectué un retour gagnant à South Garda Karting, où ils ont gagné le Trophée Andrea Margutti en début de saison. “Il n’est jamais facile de s’imposer à Lonato,” se réjouissait Paul Bizalion, responsable du team français. “C’est le circuit d’essai de la plupart des usines italiennes et les meilleurs pilotes y possèdent tous leurs repères. Le niveau y est toujours très élevé”
Performant dans toutes les conditions
Avec des places de 3e, 1er et 2e, assorties d’un meilleur tour en course, Senna Van Walstijn réalisait un excellent début de meeting et se positionnait comme un sérieux candidat à la victoire à l’aube de la dernière journée de compétition. La pluie s’invitait pour la préfinale et le pilote Néerlandais se montrait le plus rapide dans ces conditions, tout en assurant sa place en première ligne pour la finale. Il réalisait un début de course parfait, prenait la tête de la finale et creusait rapidement l’écart, avant de gérer son avance jusqu’au bout.
“Un grand merci au team CPB Sport, au constructeur Sodikart et à mon motoriste Cédric Sport Motors pour m’avoir préparé un kart si performant. Mon seul regret est que je ne vais pas pouvoir défendre ma place de leader dans cette WSK Open Cup qui se terminera le 3 octobre à Adria. Or, le même jour, je serai à Ampfing pour tenter de coiffer la couronne de Champion d’Allemagne, puisque je suis également en tête du DKM.”
Renaudin, de la 32e place au podium
C’est le Sodi-TM d’Adrien Renaudin qui a complété le podium du KZ2 à Lonato. Pourtant, tout a basculé pour Adrien dès la 2e manche alors qu’il évoluait aux avant-postes. “À la WSK, chaque manche détermine l’ordre de départ de la suivante. Comme j’ai abandonné dans la deuxième, j’ai dû repartir 32e dans la suivante,” regrettait Adrien. Grâce à un haut niveau de performance, notamment sous la pluie de la préfinale, le pilote français a réussi une progression significative pour revenir troisième de la finale.
Vainqueur d’une des deux épreuves de l’épreuve du Championnat d’Allemagne la semaine précédente à Mülsen en DSKC, Thomas Imbourg faisait également partie de l’effectif CPB Sport à Lonato. Dans ce contexte relevé, il n’a pas manqué de se mettre en valeur, à l’image d’une manche terminée en 7e position. Il perdait hélas des places en préfinale suite à une pénalité, avant de revenir 13e en finale.
“Sodikart et CPB Sport réalisent décidément une magnifique saison, avec un grand nombre de podiums et beaucoup de pilotes de différentes nationalités aux avant-postes. Outre la compétitivité du matériel, notre team est particulièrement bien structuré et organisé, c’est l’une de nos forces” a conclu Paul Bizalion.
