At the end of the inaugural stage of the 2021/22 WÜRTH MODYF ISMF World Cup season, the Adamello World Cup’s organising committee moved from the ski resort of Pontedilegno, the venue for the Sprint and Vertical races held in the last days, to Presena glacier for today’s Individual race. It was in this location that the athletes competed on a high mountain track on the border mountain peaks between Lombardy and Trentino.

The men of the Adamello Ski Team designed a very technical race: the Senior Men’s track, the longest and most muscular, included 7 ascents, 6 descents and 1 part on foot for a total altitude difference of about 3600 metres. It has been a beautiful race to follow also for the spectators who, moving with the ski lifts, had the opportunity to follow the salient phases of each category’s competition.

After a tight head-to-head with the Italian Michele Boscacci, the transalpine Xavier Gachet took the lead of the race crossing the finish line alone with a time of 1h46’46”. The second place has gone right to Michele Boscacci (1h47’43”), while the third to the French evergreen William Bon Mardion (1h48’02”).

Among Senior Women, the first place has never been under discussion with the strong Axelle Gachet-Mollaret (FRA) always in the lead. At the end she has crossed the finish line first (1h43’54”), ahead of the Swedish Tove Alexandersson (1h44’40”) and the compatriot Emily Harrop (1h49’23”).

In the U23 category, Katia Mascherona (ITA) has managed to triumph over Perrine Gindre (2° position) and Marie Charlotte Iratzoquy (3° position), both belonging to the French team. As expected, Paul Verbnjak (AUT), Aurélien Gay (SUI) and Matteo Sostizzo (ITA) have got the three top steps of the men’s podium.

The Swiss twins Thomas and Robin Bussard have respectively achieved the first and second place among U20s Men, followed by the Italian Luca Tomasoni obtaining the bronze medal. Among Women, Caroline Ulrich (SUI – 1° place), Grace Staberg (USA – 2° place) and Manuela Pedrana (ITA – 3° place) have been the strongest U20 Women athletes competing in today’s Individual race.

After the first Italian leg, the 2021/22 WÜRTH MODYF ISMF World Cup will be on stage again in mid-January with a super classic event – the Comapedrosa Andorra World Cup – which in the Arinsal-La Massana ski resort will include an Individual and a Vertical race.
