Dakar,Etapa 6 – Los problemas de navegación que afectaron a muchos participantes en el inicio del rallye han sido una constante de la que muy pocos han podido salvarse. Lucio Álvarez y Armand Monleon fueron de los que salieron airosos en aquel comienzo de carrera, pero en la etapa que hoy terminaba en Riyadh se vieron sorprendidos por varios cruces en los que el rumbo estaba poco claro entorno al Km95 de la especial, perdiendo bastante tiempo. Junto a ellos otros pilotos como Lategan o Sebastien Loeb buscaban el camino correcto, lo que ha servido al dúo argentino/español para reducir su diferencia con el segundo y tercer clasificado, Al Rajhi y Loeb, de quienes están separados por poco más de quince minutos. En cabeza Nasser Al Attiyah se ha escapado con 50 minutos de ventaja sobre el piloto local Al Rajhi y Loeb, que están separados por solamente seis segundos, con el Lucio acechándoles, tras caer a la cuarta posición de la general después de la pérdida que sufrieron en la especial.

“Hoy hubo una zona de navegación muy complicada en torno al km 95 donde había un río muy cerrado y teníamos que buscar la salida. Las notas no eran muy claras. Cuando llegamos al río estaban Loeb y Lategan buscando la salida también y perdimos mucho tiempo. Cuando salimos ya había perdido el ritmo y para colmo pinchamos una rueda y tuvimos que cambiarla. Después ya no hubo más complicaciones, pero perdimos demasiado tiempo en ese episodio” comentaba Lucio a la llegada. Pasar de tercero a cuarto en la general, manteniendo una buena diferencia con su más inmediato perseguidor cuando aún quedan 4.025Km de Rallye de los cuales 2.032 serán de tramos cronometrados, no es ningún drama y así lo analizaba el piloto argentino. “Haciendo un análisis realista de la situación, estamos cuartos de la general después de medio rallye y eso no es malo. Hubiera firmado antes de salir por estar cuarto en la jornada de descanso, aunque después de ver cómo han ido pasando los días hoy ha sido un poco decepcionante. Queda mucho por delante y podemos recuperar un puesto en el podio. Hoy fue nuestro primer mal día y espero que la lucha que van a mantener entre Loeb y Al Rajhi, (que hoy no se perdió y nos sacó 20 minutos a Loeb y a nosotros), nos beneficie, ya que ambos van a luchar muy duro para alcanzar la segunda posición y estando tan igualados saldrán a fondo desde que se reanude la carrera el domingo y pueden cometer algún fallo o tener problemas. Ahora a descansar y tratar de recuperar el tiempo en los próximos días. La semana que viene tengo que ser muy inteligente y muy suspicaz y todavía el podio está al alcance”

Para rematar la primera semana del rally, el segundo bucle con salida y llegada en la capital Riyadh, iba hacia al noroeste y estaba plagado de cruces de pistas al inicio de la especia y en esa zona fue donde aparecieron los problemas para Lucio y Armand. Las dunas del día estaban a mitad del recorrido, con unos cuarenta kilómetros de “ergs” (Desierto arenoso formado por dunas de morfología y dimensiones variables) que no representaron mayores inconvenientes
