Lausanne – Returning from the ISMF stage held in Morgins, Switzerland, the competitors from 14 different countries will already stop over for another leg, whose official ceremony will take place this evening at 17:30 in Sondrio, in the central Piazza Garibaldi.
Compared to what was planned at the beginning of the season, the classic Valtellina Orobie race will not be staged, due to the lack of snow. For the first competition, tomorrow’s Individual race, given the impossibility of setting the track on the Meriggio’s slopes, the Local Organising Committee in accordance with the ISMF Technical Jury has opted for the Palù ski area. Very steep and spectacular couloirs have been prepared here, with two off-piste descents, one of which inside the wood.
The show is assured also in Caspoggio, where a Sprint race is programmed for the morning of Saturday 5 February on a track already tested some years ago, which is rather steep and muscular. A ski stadium of great effect and a race that promises to be very hard will be the common thread for the competing athletes. It is expected to be an engaging occasion also for the spectators who will be present on the spot.

The President of the Local Organising Committee, Mr. Gianluca Cristini, affirms: “Thanks to the great availability of the Funivie al Bernina Company and to the active collaboration of Consorzio Turistico Sondrio Valmalenco and Unione dei Comuni della Valmalenco, we are able to guarantee the fulfilment of the planned races, despite the recent changes in relation to the race tracks due to the insufficient snowfall of this winter. I would also like to thank the main sponsors of the 35° Valtellina Orobie ISMF World Cup stage, such as Edison, Creval-Crédit Agricole and Valmalenco Tourist Destination, without whom it would not have been possible to hold such event”.
