Another day of work on track for Charouz Racing System at the Circuit of Barcelona-Catalunya, Spain. László Tóth, David Schumacher and Francesco Pizzi covered a total amount of 233 laps with the three Dallara-Mecachrome ran by the Czech team, successfully completing the planned work schedule for the last FIA Formula 3 official tests of the 2022 season.
All the drivers focused on performance runs in the morning, simulating qualifying conditions and trying different setup solutions in order to find pure speed on the flying lap. In the afternoon they passed on to race simulations, using the longer runs to better understand tyre degradation and find a consistent pace.
Like day 1, Italian rookie Pizzi was the fastest of the three stopping the clock at 1:32.851. Schumacher was not far behind with a 1:33.001, showing a very strong race pace in the afternoon and closing the last 4-hours session in P6. Tóth was once again the most prolific of the three covering 85 laps in total, the best in 1:34.522.
Next time the cars will hit the track will be on April 22-24 in Imola at the famous Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, for the second round of the 2022 championship.
Antonín Charouz, team owner
“The team and the guys did an amazing job in these two days of testing, as they did in Jerez last week. We grow and we learn new things every mile, so we’re confident and optimistic about the next eight rounds of the season. The pace is there and the points are definitely within our reach, I’m sure the results will pay off for the hard work very soon”.
László Tóth
“It was quite a difficult day as we struggled a bit on the performance run, despite trying a few things that really worked out for me. Then we started concentrating on the race runs which were decent and we found some good things that more or less we’re planning to find.
Francesco Pizzi
“We did a lot of work today, but it wasn’t an easy one. This morning we got focused on the performance, while in the afternoon we worked on the long runs. In the end we did a lot of mileage without any major issue on the car so we could end our plan as scheduled. We keep on working now onto Imola and we’ll try to be more competitive there”.
