Charouz Racing System heads to Zandvoort with an updated lineup for penultimate round of the 2022

Charouz Racing System has already left behind the unlucky weekend of Spa-Francorchamps and is ready for the second challenge of the triple header that will end the 2022 FIA Formula 3 season. Next stop is the recently renewed Zandvoort Circuit in the Netherlands, which last year was featured for the first time in the championship calendar.

This track is really different from the Belgian one, with only two relatively short DRS zones and a couple corners with big banking angles. Another typical aspect of the Dutch circuit is the wind and the sand that it can bring on the tarmac from the nearby beach, which could compromise the grip in both dry and wet conditions. In fact, rain is likely to affect the weekend according to the weather forecast, particularly on Saturday and Sunday.

The Czech team will hit the track on Friday with an updated lineup, which will see David Schumacher returning at the wheel of the #15 car after the previous experience at Imola in the second round of the current season. The German and teammate László Tóth already raced in F3 at Zandvoort last year, while for the Italian rookie Francesco Pizzi will be a debut in the series, although he also raced here in 2021 when he was competing in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

The weekend will follow the standard schedule with Free Practice and Qualifying on Friday, the Sprint Race that will go underway on Saturday morning and the Feature Race on Sunday morning.

Antonín Charouz, team owner
“We have two more rounds until the end of this season and we’re really committed to do everything in our hands to finally concretize our potential. Since the beginning of the year, we struggled to be where we could and in these four last races we’re determined to prove that we are better than the results shows. I’m sure that all the guys in the team and our drivers feels exactly the same. I’m also happy to welcome back David to the team, he’s a talented driver and he can surely help us in putting together a good weekend”.

László Tóth
“I’m really excited about going to Zandvoort and race there, it’s a really nice track with a really nice atmosphere and a lot of fans. It’s also quite particular so I’m glad I can count on the experience from last year, we’ll try to maximize the potential and be in a good position to get the most out of our potential. We need to be reactive to any possibile change in the conditions of the track, there’s gonna be wind, sand and maybe rain so it will get tricky at some point. It’s gonna be an interesting weekend”.

David Schumacher
“I’m very happy to have once again the chance to race in Formula 3 with Charouz Racing System, which I’d like to thank one more time for the opportunity. Imola has been a difficult weekend but we definitely had the pace, so I’m really positive that we’re gonna have a great potential at Zandvoort too. I know the track from last year and that could be a little advantage, also given that the weather situation could be variable and open different scenarios, I’ll be ready to try my best and catch any eventual opportunity to score points”.

Francesco Pizzi
“Of course coming into the Zandvoort weekend we can count on a confidence boost from the result of the Qualifying session at Spa. In Belgium we couldn’t get the result we wanted for circumstances that were not in our hands but after that we can hopefully try to get a good result this weekend. The weather looks like it’s going to be tricky as it was at Spa, so my focus is to get the most out of mutable situations and the aim is always to get into the points in both races”.
