Kilian and Laetitia Roux in Tromso (Norway) striving to maintain the lead The national teams participating in the races to be held on Saturday and Sunday have been in Tromso for some days now. The sprint race is planned to take place on Saturday morning, while the major focus of attention on Sunday morning will be the individual race where racers will compete for the last points in the ISMF World Cup of Ski Mountaineering.
After the competitions in Andorra, Mount Etna and Val Martello there is a lot of expectation about the outcome of the sprint race to be disputed entirely in the Tromso city centre. Tromso is considered the "Paris of the North"; this Norwegian city is located along the shores of the North Sea, several kilometres inside the arctic circle.
The sprint race starts on Saturday in the late morning with qualifications to be followed by semi-finals and finals. Racers will provide a great show in the heart of the city of Tromso, applauded by supporters and catching the eyes of passers-by.
After the gala dinner on Saturday night, the World Cup company will reach the slopes of Mount BlÃ¥tind for the last act of this international racing season.
The World Cup classification is dominated by Spain's Kilian Jornet Burgada that has managed to remain ahead of the Italian contenders Manfred Reichegger and Lorenzo Holzknecht with 480 points. Reichegger is at 383 points while Holzknecht can count on 357 points. France's William Bon Mardion that starred in the last part of the season now ranks 4th, missing the podium by just six points.
In the ladies standings, France's Laetitia Roux seems determined to capture the WC title as Spain's Mireia Miro is lagging behind by fifty points. Switzerland's Maude Mathys remains firmly in the third place with 353 points.
