Scuderia Villorba Corse annuncia la novità Alessandro Balzan al fianco di Filip Salaquarda con la Ferrari 458 del team trevigiano a Zandvoort nel terzo round del Blancpain Sprint Series, in programma nel weekend del 6 luglio.
Campione in carica nella categoria GT della serie statunitense Grand-Am
sempre sulla supercar di Maranello e, tra i numerosi titoli conquistati, vincitore del Ferrari Challenge nel 2012, in
Olanda il 33enne pilota veneto è chiamato a sostituire il titolare Andrea Montermini. Il campione modenese,
infatti, sarà impegnato a Budapest nel concomitante weekend dell’International GT Open, campionato nel quale
si è portato in testa alla classifica grazie alla spettacolare vittoria in rimonta di domenica scorsa a Jerez. Dal
momento che per Montermini non sarà l’unica concomitanza tra i due campionati, l’accordo tra Villorba Corse e
Balzan prevede in tutto tre appuntamenti.
“Bello accogliere Alessandro in squadra – commenta il team principal Raimondo Amadio -; faremo il
possibile per metterlo a proprio agio nel Blancpain Sprint Series. Ho sempre apprezzato le sue doti velocistiche,
un pilota che in carriera ha sempre dimostrato di andare forte in tutte le condizioni e con qualsiasi auto. Sono
sicuro che con Filip formeranno una coppia competitiva che ci darà grandi soddisfazioni.”
“Sono felice di questo accordo con Villorba Corse – dichiara Balzan -. Nonostante il team sia soltanto al primo
anno in GT3 ha già dimostrato di saper lavorare ai massimi livelli. Sappiamo che il Blancpain Sprint Series è un
campionato ultra competitivo, dovremo presentarci subito al meglio. Un piccolo vantaggio è il fatto che avrò
l’opportunità di difendere i colori Villorba e quelli del Cavallino su un circuito e con un pacchetto auto-pneumatici
che ho già avuto modo di conoscere.”
Scuderia Villorba Corse has hired Alessandro Balzan who will be alongside
Filip Salaquarda behind the wheel of the Ferrari 458 in the third round of 2014 Blancpain Sprint Series to be
held on July 6th at Zandvoort. Reigning Grand-Am champion in the GT category, the 33 year old Italian driver is
replacing Andrea Montermini who will race at the Hungaroring in the concomitant weekend of the International
GT Open where the former F1 driver from Modena tops the standings together with Niccolò Schirò after their
stunning win at Jerez last Sunday. Since Zandvoort will not be the sole concomitance for Montermini, Villorba
Corse and Balzan have reached a three-event agreement.

him at ease in the Blancpain Sprint Series. I have always appreciated his skills and speed. He proved to be fast
in every conditions and on any kind of car. I’m sure that together with Filip they will form a competitive pair who
will bring us great results.”
“I am delighted with this agreement – says Balzan -. Although it is only their first year in GT3, Amadio and his
team have already shown their skills to work at the highest levels. Blancpain Sprint Series is a very tough
championship, we need to be competitive right from the start. I will have the opportunity to race on a track and
with a car-tire package that I got to know. This could represent a good advantage.”
