Area Zero D’Amico si conferma protagonista anche sulle strade della Spagna.
Oggi nel Circuito Getxo, gara di km 170 (categoria UCI 1.1) vinta allo sprint dallo spagnolo Carlos Barbero (Euskadi), sull’italiano Luca Chirico (MG KVis) e l’altro iberico Peio Bilbao (Caja Rural), Area Zero D’Amico ha piazzato al traguardo due atleti con i migliori: 5° Fabio Chinello e 11° Gianluca Mengardo.
“Sono molto soddisfatto della prova odierna dei nostri ragazzi” spiega il team manager e direttore sportivo Andrea Tonti. “Siamo stati presenti in tutte le fasi della corsa. Simone Petilli è entrato subito nel primo tentativo di fuga purtroppo annullato dal gruppo, poi è toccato a Gianluca Leonardi provarci con una bella azione di 7 corridori ripresi a soli 2 km dall’arrivo. Infine anche nella volata di gruppo abbiamo provato a dire la nostra ed è arrivato un altro bel piazzamento nella Top 5. L’aspetto più importante è che abbiamo interpretato bene la gara e corso con grinta e carattere mettendoci in evidenza. E’ stata una corsa vera, con un buon livello di corridori e squadre al via (ndr per esempio Giovanni Visconti della Movistar, 7° al traguardo, appena uscito dal Tour de France). Sono sicuro che per tutti i nostri corridori il Circuito Getxo ha rappresentato un’altra importante esperienza nel percorso di crescita che stanno facendo”.
EVEN IN SPAIN AREA ZERO D’AMICO FIGURES AS A MAJOR PLAYER

Area Zero D’Amico figured well on the roads of Spain. Today on the Circuito Getxo, in a 170-km long race (category UCI 1.1) which was won after a bunch sprint by Spain’s own Carlos Barbero (Euskadi), ahead of Italian Luca Chirico (MG KVis) and another Iberian, Peio Bilbao (Caja Rural), Area Zero D’Amico made it to the finish line together with the top riders: 5th place for Fabio Chinello and 11th for Gianluca Mengardo.
“I’m very pleased with our guys’ test today,” explained team manager and sports director Andrea Tonti. “We were in the thick of things in all phases of the race. Simone Petilli immediately got in to the first break away attempt which was unfortunately annulled by the group. Then it was Gianluca Leonardi’s turn to give it a go with a nice action on behalf of 7 riders who got caught with only 2 km to go to the arrival. In the end even in the bunch sprint we tried to shine and we made it to another nice placement in the Top 5. The most important aspect is that we rode the race well and we raced with guts and character, managing to stand out. It was a real race, with a good level of riders and teams lined up at the start (editor’s note: for example Giovanni Visconti from Movistar, fresh off the Tour de France, who came in 7th at the finish line.). “I’m sure that for all our riders the Circuito Getxo was another important experience in the path to growth that they’re on.”
