After the first part of the race that was particularly dedicated to sprinters, the 2014 Tour de Pologne will really start to heat up with the fifth stage.
The stage will be all new. In fact, the race will start off from Zakopane, a tourism gem in the Tatra Mountains that usually hosts an arrival for the Tour de Pologne in the shadows of its famous ski jump trampoline. This year instead the stage will set off from Zakopane to then head for Slovakia. For the first time in its history the Tour de Pologne cross the border into this country with a 25.4 km circuit to be repeated twice, which will feature a spectacular final climb with arrival at Strbske Pleso, another popular winter tourist resort. It will be a mid-mountain stage with plenty of climbing, especially in the nervous final circuit. It’s a stage that promises to be highly spectacular and which could deliver some unexpected twists and begin to shape up the classification for the Tour de Pologne.
