Continua la stagione di Area Zero – D’Amico – Bottecchia.
Questa settimana la formazione continental italiana, diretta dal team manager Ivan De Paolis, sarà al via del Gran Premio Nobili Rubinetterie – 12a Coppa Papà Carlo – 7a Coppa Città di Stresa, in programma giovedì 19 marzo. 187.5 i km previsti, sul tradizionale percorso da Suno a Stresa sul Lago Maggiore, per la classica piemontese che si conferma tra gli appuntamenti importanti del calendario della primavera italiana.
“Prevedo una corsa molto veloce con una media elevata fin dalle battute iniziali, come è successo lo scorso anno. Nel finale c’è una salitella da ripetere due volte che non è da sottovalutare. Difficile però che faccia una grande selezione anche perché poi fino al traguardo c’è spazio per recuperare” dice il direttore sportivo Massimo Codol. “Per quanto ci riguarda, i nostri uomini veloci che tengono bene anche in salita sono Silvio Giorni e Antonio Parrinello, che è in crescita. Inoltre possiamo contare anche su Paolo Ciavatta che arriva dal bel podio del GP Izola, anche se negli ultimi giorni ha dovuto fare i conti con un leggero virus influenzale che però sembra ormai risolto.”
Per Area Zero – D’Amico – Bottecchia ci sarà il debutto stagionale di Francesco Baldi.
“La nostra squadra vuole essere soprattutto una palestra per permettere ai giovani di fare esperienza” spiega il team manager Ivan De Paolis. “Questo ragazzo classe 1996 è sicuramente una bella sfida, ha da poco compiuto 19 anni e frequenta ancora il Liceo Scientifico, alternando come è giusto che sia a quell’età studio e attività agonistica. Arriva dal sud, dalla Campania, per la precisione da Cava de’Tirreni (Salerno), che è anche la terra di uno degli sponsor che da il nome alla nostra squadra, D’Amico sottoli. Francesco si affaccia al mondo dei prof dopo aver fatto vedere ottime cose tra gli juniores, correndo con una squadra del nord Italia. Quello che ci aspettiamo da lui è che con noi possa fare un percorso graduale di maturazione e crescita.”

Francesco Baldi to make his debut among the pros
Area Zero – D’Amico – Bottecchia’s season continues. This week the all Italian continental team led by team manager Ivan De Paolis will be lining up for the start of the Gran Premio Nobili Rubinetterie – 12th Coppa Papà Carlo Trophy – 7th Coppa Città di Stresa Trophy. The race is scheduled for Thursday, March 19th. This Piedmont classic that has become one of the most important dates on the Italian Spring calendar and will cover 187.5 km on the traditional route from Suno to Stresa on Lago Maggiore.
“I foresee a very fast race with a high average speed, right from the very first pedal strokes, like what happened last year. There’s a slight uphill in the final to be repeated twice, which is not to be underestimated. It probably won’t be very selective, however, because there is time to recuperate all the way to the finish line,” says sport director Massimo Codol. “As far as we’re concerned, our fast men who do well on climbs, too, are Silvio Giorni and Antonio Parrinello, who is growing. We can also count on Paolo Ciavatta, who is fresh off a nice podium in the GP Izola, although these last few days he’s been struggling with a slight flu virus.”
Francesco Baldi will be making his season debut for Area Zero – D’Amico – Bottecchia.
“Our team especially wants to act as a gym, where young guys can gain experience,” explains team manager Ivan De Paolis. “This kid born in 1996 is definitely a good challenge; he just recently turned 19 and he still goes to the Scientific High School, alternating his studies with his competitive activities, as well he should. He comes from Campania, in the South, more specifically from Cava de’Tirreni (Salerno), which is also the land of one of the sponsors that lends their name to our team, D’Amico Sottoli. Francesco is coming to the world of the pros after having shown some good moves among the Juniors, racing with a team in Northern Italy. We expect that with us he will be able to follow a path of maturation and growth.”
