Dopo l’impegno con la Belgrade-Banjaluka continua la trasferta est europea di Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia. Questa settimana la formazione continental italiana sarà impegnata nel Tour of Croatia. 5 tappe dal 22 al 26 aprile. Mercoledì ci sarà la prima tappa da Makarska a Split di 156 km. Gran finale domenica nella capitale Zagabria.
“E’ una corsa nuova tutta da scoprire ma che si annuncia interessante sia dal punto di vista tecnico che mediatico” spiega il direttore sportivo Massimo Codol. “Da una prima analisi dei percorsi, guardando le altimetrie, posso dire che sarà una corsa dura. Ci saranno tappe che superano anche i 200 km, un bel test per i nostri ragazzi. Per alcuni di loro sarà la prima vera corsa a tappe della carriera. Il campo partenti è composto soprattutto da squadre continental, ma si tratta delle migliori della categoria del panorama internazionale, quindi il livello in gara sarà certamente molto elevato.”
In Croazia farà il suo debutto in maglia Area Zero il giovane Eduardo Estrada, colombiano classe 1995.“E’ un corridore promettente, per lui questa sarà la prima corsa con noi, sarà importante soprattutto per ambientarsi con il team e con il ritmo di gara” dice il Ds Codol. “Comunque riteniamo che Estrada possa diventare presto un elemento molto prezioso per l’economia globale della squadra. Il ciclismo colombiano negli ultimi anni si sta confermando una bella realtà, in continua crescita, capace di sfornare ottimi talenti.”
Inoltre in Croazia ci sarà il rientro in corsa di Antonio Parrinello in recupero dai postumi della caduta patita in marzo alla Coppi e Bartali. “Nelle ultime settimane Antonio era in crescita ma purtroppo è stato un po’ rallentato da questo incidente” spiega il Ds Codol. “Auspico che qui in Croazia trovi le condizioni ideali per ritornare a buoni livelli ed esprimersi al meglio.”

AREA ZERO-D’AMICO-BOTTECCHIA: READY FOR THE TOUR OF CROATIA
Colombian Eduardo Estrada will make his debut in the Area Zero jersey. Watch the race on TV via Eurosport2.
This week Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia will be taking on the Tour of Croatia. The 5-stage race takes place from April 22nd to the 26th. On Wednesday the first stage will cover 156 km from Makarska to Split. The grand finale will be held on Sunday in the capital of Zagabria.
“This is an all new race, all there to discover, but it promises to be interesting from a technical point of view and in terms of the media,” explains Sports Director Massimo Codol. “As an initial analysis of the routes, considering the altimetry, I can say that it is going to be a tough race. There will be stages that are longer than 200 km, which will be a good test for our guys. For some of them it will be the first real stage race of their careers. The starting field is made up primarily of continental teams, but we’re talking about the best in their class on the international scene, so the level of the race is definitely going to be very competitive.”
In Croatia the young Colombian, Eduardo Estrada, who was born in 1995, will be making his debut in the Area Zero jersey. “He’s a promising rider; this will be his first race with us. It will be especially important for him to get a feel for the team and the racing rhythm,” says Ds Codol. “However we believe that Estrada will soon become a very valuable element to the team’s overall economy. In the last several years Colombian cycling has become an increasingly successful enterprise that is producing some excellent talent.”
Also in Croatia, Antonio Parrinello will get back into the race after recovering from injuries he sustained in a fall during the Coppi e Bartali back in March. “In the last several weeks Antonio was developing but unfortunately this accident has slowed him down a little,” explains Ds Codol. “I hope that here in Croatia he will find the perfect conditions to make it back to a good level and express himself as best he can.”
