After its world crown in 2019 to celebrate the brand’s 60 years of existence, the Birel ART Racing Team is getting ready for more success in 2020.
International high-level competition remains the scene of the most spectacular sporting and technical confrontations between the main chassis manufacturers, and Birel ART intends to showcase its skill by aiming for the top places in the four categories in which it is involved.
“We are very pleased to have achieved our goal last year by winning the KZ World Championship,” said Ronni Sala, President of the Birel ART Group, “But the competition is constantly renewed and we are setting out again for new challenges in 2020 with great ambitions. We will be able to count on the quality of our equipment, which is constantly improving, as well as on a very competent technical team under the direction of Luca Filini. Our official driver training brings together confirmed talents and young hopefuls in the making. What hasn’t changed is our determination to fight for victory!”
At the Lissone factory, the season started long ago with the production of the chassis derived from the kart that enabled Marijn Kremers to win the World KZ Championship at Lonato. The training sessions have resumed and it is time to announce the drivers who will defend the colours of the Birel ART Racing Team this year, with potential for great performance.
The succession is open in KZ
Two very experienced Italian drivers will take up the challenge of continuing the momentum of 2019 in the premier class. After Kremers’ move to single-seaters, Alex Irlando, winner of the KZ2 International Super Cup in 2016 and Riccardo Longhi, KZ World vice-Champion of 2019, have complementary qualities and will form a formidable duo to carry the torch to the peaks of KZ. In view of their outstanding performances last year, the Italians Leonardo Marseglia and Giuseppe Palomba will have a strong card to play in KZ2 with the New Zealander Matthew Payne at their side.
Total renewal in OK
Five new drivers from five different countries will join the official Birel ART team in OK. The Finn Nikolas Pirttilahti, who scored a double top 10 in the European and World Championship last year, the Briton Clayton Ravenscroft who is constantly at the international forefront in X30 and Rotax, the Belgian Kobe Pauwels, 2nd in the 2018 FIA Karting Academy Trophy, the eclectic Italian Matteo Massetani and the promising Thai driver Sutumno Tanapongpan.
Willingness to make it happen in OK-Junior
Only two drivers, but talent and motivation to spare for their second season in OK-Junior for the Italian Cristian Bertuca, who progressed to 9th in the World Junior Championship with Birel ART, and the Polish driver Tymoteusz Kucharczyk, 11th in the European Junior Championship, who joins the team on a chassis in the colours of Robert Kubica, a real star among his compatriots.
Richard Mille renews his confidence in Maya Weug
Selected at the end of 2018 by the Richard Mille Young Talent Academy, Maya Weug will take advantage of an additional year in OK to build on the strong progress of her performances in 2019.
The Birel ART Racing Team’s racing programme will include the FIA Karting Championships, several WSK Promotion events and the Champions of the Future series launched by RGMMC.

Dopo il titolo mondiale 2019 per festeggiare i 60 anni di vita del marchio, il Team Birel ART Racing si prepara a ripartire alla conquista di nuovi successi nel 2020. La competizione internazionale di alto livello rimane il teatro delle migliori battaglie sportive e tecniche tra i principali fabbricanti di telai e Birel ART vuole assolutamente mettere in mostra il suo know-how puntando ai primi posti delle quattro categorie dove è impegnata.
“Siamo molto contenti di aver raggiunto il nostro obiettivo l’anno scorso conquistando il titolo di Campione del mondo KZ”, ha dichiarato Ronni Sala, Presidente del Gruppo Birel ART. “Ma la gara è un eterno nuovo inizio e noi ripartiamo verso nuove sfide nel 2020 con grandi ambizioni. Potremo contare sulla qualità del nostro materiale in costante sviluppo e su una squadra tecnica molto competente diretta da Luca Filini. La nostra formazione ufficiale di piloti riunisce dei talenti affermati e delle giovani future speranze. Quello che non è cambiato è la nostra determinazione a batterci per la vittoria!”
Nella fabbrica di Lissone, la stagione è già iniziata da molto tempo con l’avvio della produzione dei telai derivati dal kart che ha consentito a Marijn Kremers di conquistare il Campionato del mondo KZ a Lonato. Le sessioni di allenamento sono riprese ed è venuto il momento di annunciare i piloti che quest’anno difenderanno i colori del Team Birel ART Racing, con un grosso potenziale di performance.
Avvicendamento aperto nella KZ
Due piloti italiani molto esperti raccoglieranno la sfida di proseguire sulla scia del 2019 nella categoria regina. Dopo il passaggio di Kremers alla monoposto, Alex Irlando, vincitore della International Super Cup KZ2 nel 2016 e Riccardo Longhi, vicecampione del mondo KZ 2019, hanno qualità complementari per formare una coppia formidabile e raccogliere il testimone ai vertici della KZ. Viste le loro ottime performance l’anno scorso, gli italiani Leonardo Marseglia e Giuseppe Palomba avranno una bella carta da giocare nella KZ2 con il neozelandese Matthew Payne al loro fianco.
Rinnovamento totale nella OK
Cinque nuovi piloti provenienti da cinque paesi diversi andranno ad unirsi al team ufficiale Birel ART nella OK. Il finlandese Nikolas Pirttilahti, autore di una doppia Top-10 nel Campionato europeo e del mondo l’anno scorso, l’inglese Clayton Ravenscroft molto presente nelle prime posizioni internazionali nella X30 e Rotax, il belga Kobe Pauwels, secondo nell’Academy Trophy FIA Karting 2018, l’eclettico italiano Matteo Massetani e il promettente tailandese Sutumno Tanapongpan.
Voglia di concretizzare nella OK-Junior
Solo due piloti, ma con talento e motivazione da vendere per la loro seconda stagione nella OK-Junior con l’italiano Cristian Bertuca che è salito fino al nono posto nel Campionato mondiale Junior nel team Birel ART e il polacco Tymoteusz Kucharczyk, undicesimo nel Campionato europeo Junior che si unisce al team su un kart con i colori di Robert Kubica, vera e propria star per i suoi compatrioti.
Richard Mille rinnova la sua fiducia a Maya Weug
Selezionata a fine 2018 dalla Richard Mille Young Talent Academy, Maya Weug potrà approfittare di un altro anno nella OK per concretizzare la bella progressione delle sue performance registrata nel 2019.
Il programma sportivo del Team Birel ART Racing comprenderà i Campionati FIA Karting, varie prove della WSK Promotion e della serie Champions of the future lanciata da RGMMC.

Après son couronnement mondial en 2019 pour saluer les 60 ans d’existence de la marque, le Birel ART Racing Team se prépare à repartir à la conquête de nouveaux succès en 2020. La compétition internationale de haut niveau reste le théâtre des plus belles confrontations sportives et techniques entre les principaux fabricants de châssis et Birel ART compte bien mettre en évidence son savoir-faire en visant les premières places des quatre catégories où elle est engagée.
« Nous sommes très heureux d’avoir atteint notre objectif l’an dernier en décrochant le titre de Champion du Monde KZ », a déclaré Ronni Sala, le Président du Groupe Birel ART. « Mais la compétition est un éternel recommencement et nous repartons pour de nouveaux challenges en 2020 avec de grandes ambitions. Nous pourrons compter sur la qualité de notre matériel en constante progression, ainsi que sur une équipe technique très compétente sous la direction de Luca Filini. À l’usine de Lissone, la saison a déjà commencé depuis longtemps avec la mise en production des châssis dérivés du kart qui a permis à Marijn Kremers de remporter le Championnat du Monde KZ à Lonato. Les séances d’entraînement ont repris et il est temps d’annoncer les pilotes qui défendront les couleurs du Birel ART Racing Team cette année, avec un gros potentiel de performance.
La succession est ouverte en KZ
Deux pilotes italiens très expérimentés relèveront le défi de poursuivre sur la lancée de 2019 dans la catégorie reine. Après le passage de Kremers en monoplace, Alex Irlando, vainqueur de la Super Coupe Internationale KZ2 en 2016 et Riccardo Longhi, vice-Champion du Monde KZ 2019, disposent de qualités complémentaires pour former un duo redoutable et reprendre le flambeau sur les sommets de la KZ. Au vu de leurs très bonnes performances l’an passé, les Italiens Leonardo Marseglia et Giuseppe Palomba auront une belle carte à jouer en KZ2 avec le Néo-Zélandais Matthew Payne à leurs côtés.
Renouvellement total en OK
Cinq nouveaux pilotes de cinq pays différents intégreront le team officiel Birel ART en OK. Le Finlandais Nikolas Pirttilahti, auteur d’un double top 10 en Championnat d’Europe et du Monde l’an dernier, le Britannique Clayton Ravenscroft très présent aux avant-postes internationaux en X30 et Rotax, le Belge Kobe Pauwels, 2e du Trophée Académie FIA Karting 2018, l’éclectique Italien Matteo Massetani et le Thaïlandais prometteur Sutumno Tanapongpan.
Volonté de concrétiser en OK-Junior
Deux pilotes seulement, mais du talent et de la motivation à revendre pour leur seconde saison en OK-Junior avec l’Italien Cristian Bertuca qui a progressé jusqu’au 9e rang du Championnat du Monde Junior au sein de Birel ART et le Polonais Tymoteusz Kucharczyk, 11e au Championnat d’Europe Junior, qui rejoint l’équipe sur un châssis aux couleurs de Robert Kubica, véritable star auprès de ses compatriotes.
