2010 Olympic victory.
One that definitely was the most emotional race and the most emotional victory because my family had given me so much to get to that point – when I crossed the finish line I was so excited. It was just an unbelievable feeling.

Family
Our parents just love dressing us up in Dale of Norway sweaters so we were all matching and colour-co-ordinated. It’s just a classic picture that reminds me of my youth and all the good times we had together.

Knee Surgery
I just had my second knee surgery and I got Leo (her dog) because I was definitely struggling – having two knee surgeries and missing the Olympics was pretty brutal and I needed a friend so I adopted Leo from an animal shelter. He had a bad knee as well so we were both on the mend.

Breaking the record
When I broke the World Cup win record of 63 wins in Cortina I was spraying champagne everywhere and my whole family was there. It was something I never thought I’d be able to achieve – it just kind of happened. I just kept working hard and just tried to keep winning as many races as I could. The fact I was able to break it was incredible. Besides the Olympics, it was one of my best experiences of my career for sure.

Legacy
When you are a skier you don’t really think about being an author, but I’ve learned a lot in my career and I wanted to share that so that was a really proud moment for me. It was a lot of hard work, a lot of time and effort and I hope I can help other people find confidence in themselves and become healthier and stronger people.
