Il primo round degli Internazionali d’Italia MX Sidi Series 2015 va in archivio con una certezza: pioggia, vento, grandine e freddo non possono fermare il Motocross, almeno non sulla gialla sabbia sarda.
La prima tappa di quello che è diventato il più importante Campionato pre Mondiale è stata caratterizzata dalla nutrita presenza di piloti di altissimo livello, sopratutto in MX1, dove erano presenti quasi tutti i rider che compongono lo schieramento della MXGP.
Ma andiamo con ordine partendo dalla MX1. Al mattino nelle prove il più veloce risulta Tommy Searle (KTM); l’inglese, rinato dopo la cura De Carli, pare a suo agio sulla sabbia ed il suo tempo lo fa volare in vetta alla classifica. Alle spalle del pilota inglese, si classificano il compagno Ken De Dycker, Jeremy Van Horebeek (Yamaha), Evgeny Bobryshev (Honda) e Antonio Cairoli (KTM). Nella manche della MX1 la sorpresa è venuta da David Philippaerts (Yamaha), il guerriero di Borgomanero ha corso una manche praticamente perfetta, fino a quando una noia con lo scarico lo ha messo fuori gioco; proprio mentre era in testa, davanti a Paulin e Cairoli. La gara, fino a quel momento incredibilmente combattuta, ha vissuto più rovesciamenti: di fronte ed in testa si sono alternati Max Nagl, autore del hole-shot SIDI, Cairoli, Philippaerts e Paulin, che è riuscito a portarsi a casa il primo trofeo dell’anno, vincendo di un soffio davanti al siciliano. Alle spalle di TC222 ha chiuso il pilota del Team di Michele Rinaldi, Jeremy Van Horebeek. Philippaerts è riuscito a chiudere undicesimo, dopo la sosta ai box per riparare la moto e Davide Guarneri (TM) sedicesimo dopo una brutta caduta in partenza. La gara della MX2 è stata invece dominata da Paul Jonass, da quest’anno in forze nella squadra ufficiale KTM MX2, che ha monopolizzato le prove cronometrate, rifilando più di un secondo a Jens Getteman (Honda) e Tim Gajser (Honda). Nei dieci, e primo degli italiani, anche Ivo Monticelli (KTM), al rientro dopo il lungo recupero causa infortunio. Il ritmo forsennato del pilota lettone ha demolito le speranze degli avversari e alle sue spalle, molto distanti sono finiti, nell’ordine, Jeremy Seewer (Suzuki) e Vsevolod Brylyakov (Honda). Il russo è stato autore di un’ottima prova che lo ha visto precedere Tim Gajser ed Alexandr Tonkov (Husqvarna). Al mattino nella 125 Gianluca Facchetti (KTM) è stato il più veloce, precedendo nelle prove cronometrate Ivan Petrov (KTM) e Filippo Zonta (Husqvarna). In gara uno la vittoria è andata a Ivan Petrov, dopo una manche combattuta e spettacolare, alle sue spalle il polacco Gabriel Chetnicki (KTM), autore di una grande rimonta dalla decima posizione; terzo Kim Savaste (KTM) che precede Lentini (Husqvarna) e Zonta. Nella seconda frazione è proprio il polacco che prende il comando al terzo giro e non lascia più la testa della gara fino alla fine, andando a chiudere davanti a Petrov e Zonta. Il podio di giornata vede Chetnichi sul primo gradino con Petrov e Zonta al secondo e terzo posto. Parziale riscatto di Gianluca Facchetti, che chiude settimo la seconda manche, dopo un deludente sedicesimo posto nella prima a causa di una partenza rovinosa. Lo spettacolo degli Internazionali d’Italia sta soprattutto nella gara di Elite, quando i quaranta cancelletti di partenza sono interamente occupati dai venti migliori piloti di MX1 ed MX2, pronti a darsi battaglia per il montepremi di 120.000€. Verrebbe da dire che quando il gioco si fa duro i duri cominciano a giocare ed infatti Antonio Cairoli ha cambiato marcia rispetto alla gara precedente e dopo aver siglato un hole-shot nettissimo, si è involato in solitaria, ritrovandosi in poche tornate con un margine superiore ai venti secondi. Alle sue spalle Gautier Paulin ha navigato nel mare di sabbia, rimontando dalla quarta piazza iniziale e portandosi a casa il secondo posto, precedendo uno scatenato Tommy Searle, partito bene, ma caduto dopo tre giri e scivolato in settima posizione. Malino gli altri italiani “da Mondiale”, David Philippaerts è stato costretto al ritiro dopo una caduta nel primo giro e Davide Guarneri che non è andato oltre un quindicesimo posto, a causa di un trauma al collo rimediato nella prima manche. Paul Jonass conclude settimo ed è primo fra i piloti MX2. La carovana degli Internazionali si sposta ora sul continente per il secondo round che avrà luogo a Castiglione del Lago (PG) il prossimo fine settimana.

The 2015 Motocross season has officially began
MXTime – The 2015 Motocross season has officially began, Antonio Cairoli Gautier Paulin and Paul Jonass where the protagonists of the first round of the Internazionali d’Italia MX 2015 Sidi Series. The 125, MX1 and MX2 riders where whipped by the wind and the Sardinian rain for most of the day, but still the show was fantastic for the local crowds, that where supporting the riders for the entire day.
In MX1 Tommy Searle took the pole position, ahead of his team mate Ken De Dycker, Jeremy Van Horebeek, Evgeny Bobryshev and Antonio Cairoli. The MX1 race was incredible and trilling, with four riders that where exchanging their position for the whole moto. Max Nagl, who scored the hole-shot, was leading for the first laps, passed by Gautier Paulin, he ended in fourth place behind the French rider, Antonio Cairoli and Jeremy Van Horebeek. The Italian crowds where delighted also by the ride of David Philippaerts, the former World Champion was leading the race and battling with Cairoli and Paulin, before having an issue with his exhaust that forced him to stop in the pit lane. Davide Guarneri closes in sixteenth place after a bad crash at the start, which makes up a neck trauma.
Paul Jonass showed his speed, dominating the MX2 class, winning the race by nearly 30 seconds on his closest rival Jeremy Seewer, who finished ahead Vsevolod Brylyakov and Tim Gajser. Among Italians, Joakin Furbetta crossed the finish line in ninth place, ahead of D’Angelo, with Ivo Monticelli, still out of shape due to the long recovery, who has finished in fifteenth place.
Gianluca Facchetti was the fastest 125 rider on track in the morning, proving that is learning fast how to ride his new bike. Ivan Petrov and Filippo Zonta where second and third. Petrov wins race one, after a hard fought and spectacular race, behind him Chetnicki Gabriel was second, the Polish made a good comeback race from tenth; third Kim Savaste, in front of Lentini and Zonta. The second moto was dominated by Chetnicki that takes the lead and crossed the finish line first, ahead of Petrov and Zonta. The first step of the podium was for the Polish with equal points with second classified Petrov. Third place went to Filippo Zonta. Gianluca Facchetti, who was sixteenth in the first moto, ended seventh in the second.
The Elite race, made by the 20 top riders of MX1 and MX2, was the last of the day. The ride of Antonio Cairoli, was impressive; started with a superb hole-shot, the Sicilian was pushing hard in the first laps, riding more than three seconds faster per lap of his pursuers. After six laps the eight time World Champion had more than twenty-second gap to handle easily till the finish line. Gautier Paulin, who can be satisfied of his debut in HRC, ended second. Third place went to Tommy Searle, who had started well, but after a mistake in the third round, he had to push hard to come back. The first of the MX2 riders was Paul Jonass, that was followed throughout the race by Sacha Tonkov. A difficult day for the other Italians, with David Philippaerts forced to retire after a crash on the first lap and Davide Guarneri fifteenth, slowed by the consequences of the crash in the first heat.
Next stop Castiglione del Lago, Sunday, February the 8th on a completely different soil and if the weather allows, we will see another great show.
