ISMF-LGC World Championships Long Distance Team 20th Millet Tour du Rutor Etrême

Lausanne – The weather pattern disturbance arriving over the Aosta Valley, Italy, in the next few hours has forced the Race Director Marco Camandona, the Track Director Roger Bovard and the staff of the Corrado Gex Ski Club to work overtime. Some fresh snow is on the way to the Millet Tour du Rutor Extrême, which this year is the only Italian leg of the La Grande Course circuit and is valid as ISMF World Championships Long Distance Team.

Compared to the original programme, for safety reasons, the inaugural race on Thursday 31 March will take place entirely on the La Thuile side with the starting and finish lines at the foot of the local slopes. The spectators can get there by ski lifts.

The tracks of the second and third race day should remain unchanged. The detailed information and the differences in altitude will be made public only during the Team Captain Meeting of this evening.

Surprises in the start list
From 31 March to 2 April, the towns of Arvier, Valgrisenche and La Thuile will host one of the most important race events of the worldwide skimo season. The most talented international ski mountaineering athletes coming from the best national teams are expected at the starting line with a total of 185 teams representing 15 different countries. The recent breaking news is that the current leader of the ISMF Overall World Cup ranking, Michele Boscacci (ITA), withdrew from the event due to a flu. Therefore, his partner Matteo Eydallin changed teammate and will race alongside Davide Magnini. This substitution reshuffled all the other Italian teams that will be composed by Robert Antonioli – Nadir Maguet and Alex Oberbacher – Henri Aymonod. All the other top teams are confirmed. Among them there are Xavier Gachet – William Bon Mardion and Samuel Equy – Mathéo Jacquemoud, both of France, Rémi Bonnet – Werner Marti (SUI) and Jakob Herrmann – Paul Verbnjak (AUT).

Among women, a super challenge is expected between France and Italy, with the couples Axelle Gachet-Mollaret – Emily Harrop and the reigning ISMF-LGC World Champions Long Distance Team Alba De Silvestro – Giulia Murada. The second Italian team composed by Ilaria Veronese – Mara Martini will play the outsider role.

Not only races
For the entire duration of the Millet Tour du Rutor Extrême event, a real Mountain Village will be set up in the green area in the centre of Arvier, becoming a meeting point for athletes and fans. Many of the best brands have already confirmed their presence. It will be an opportunity for companies to showcase their products and provide support to the athletes. For these latter it will be the perfect occasion to discover the latest news in the field of sports equipment, sportswear and more. In the same area, a small TV studio will be arranged for the WEB TV. From Wednesday 30 March to Friday 1 April starting at 17:00, a commentary about the races hosted by the sports journalist Silvano Gadin will be live streamed on the official event website and social media channels.
