Circuito de Sochi – El gran éxito de Juan Manuel en esta última carrera de la temporada fue poder decir ¡OBJETIVO CUMPLIDO!
Volver a recuperar al piloto, cerca de su mejor nivel, al deportista casi en plena forma y al ser humano, era el objetivo de este año de transición en la F3, y la última carrera de la temporada puso de manifiesto que todo eso se ha logrado gracias al esfuerzo, el tesón, la pasión, sin olvidar los cuidados del equipo médico coordinado por Xavi Martos en Barcelona, que han hecho posible este “milagro”, que hoy ha tenido su reflejo en la pista.
Como piloto que aspira cada día a más, Juan Manuel no estaba satisfecho del desarrollo de la carrera, pero mientras el piloto estaba en su mejor momento de la temporada, el coche no lo estuvo tanto y un sobreviraje, que cada vez iba a más, le alejó de los puestos de podio, que era el objetivo que tenían Juan Manuel.
Acabar decimoprimero no le dejó buen sabor de boca, especialmente después de la mejor calificación del año, pero se pudo ver al mejor Juan Manuel del año peleando y defendiendo su posición frente a los mejores pilotos de la categoría, y además con unos medios que no estaban a la altura de lo que se esperaba.
Tras la suspensión de la segunda carrera el sábado por la lluvia, la F3 volvió a la acción con la disputa de la tercera carrera y el asfalto seco. Juan Manuel arrancó quinto e hizo una buena salida manteniendo su posición durante las cuatro primeras vueltas, pegado a la estela de su compañero de equipo Frederik Vesti y liderando un numeroso grupo muy batallador, que usando el DRS tenía una clara ventaja frente a Juan Manuel, que comenzó a tener muchos problemas de estabilidad en el coche, con un sobreviraje que le castigó las ruedas y le hizo bajar mucho el ritmo, lo que unido al DRS de los que venían por detrás le hizo perder posiciones paulatinamente hasta quedarse 11º, perdiendo el punto de la décima posición en los últimos metros de la carrera.
Lo positivo del fin de semana fue hacer una calificación para estar entre los cinco primeros y la defensa de su posición durante las primeras vueltas, hasta que comenzaron los problemas de comportamiento del coche. Se le vio luchando con los mejores, defendiendo la posición y hay que quedarse con la imagen de un Juan Manuel en plena forma y luchando en las primeras posiciones, que finalmente era el objetivo de este año.

“No fue la carrera que esperábamos. El coche tuvo problemas de equilibrio, que ya hubo en la primera carrera del viernes y que no solucionamos, sino que incluso iba peor. Desde la primera vuelta tuve mucho sobreviraje y fue una carrera muy complicada. Intenté todas las maniobras posibles para defender la quinta posición peroera imposible aguantar a todos esos que venían con mejor ritmo y con DRS. Después de verme cuarto en la primera vuelta lo intenté todo, peleé con todo, pero finalmente no pude entrar en los puntos como me hubiera gustado en esta última carrera de la temporada. Ahora toca pensar en el año que viene, preparar la temporada próxima para llegar mucho más fuerte que este año”

As a driver who aims for more every day, Juan Manuel was not satisfied with the way the race went, but while the driver was at his best this season, the car was not so good and an increasing oversteer kept him away from podium positions, which was Juan Manuel’s goal.
Finishing eleventh did not leave him with a good taste, especially after the best qualifying result of the year, but we could see the best Juan Manuel of the year, fighting and defending his position against the best drivers in the category, even when it was with means that were not up to expectations.
After the suspension of the second race on Saturday due to rain, F3 resumed the action with the third race on dry tarmac. Juan Manuel started from fifth and made a good start, keeping his position for the first four laps, in the wake of his teammate Frederik Vesti and leading a large and very combative group, which had a clear advantage over Juan Manuel by using the DRS, He started to have a lot of stability problems in the car, with an oversteer that punished his tyres and made him slow down a lot, and that, together with the DRS of those who came from behind, made him lose positions gradually until he was 11th, losing the point awarded by the tenth position in the last few meters of the race.
The positive side of the weekend was having a qualifying session that left him in the top five and defending his position during the first few laps, until the car’s problems started. He was seen fighting with the best, defending his position and we have to keep the image of a Juan Manuel in top form and fighting for top positions, which was the main goal this year

“It wasn’t the race we expected. The car had balance problems, which we already had during the first race on Friday and which we couldn’t solve, but it was even worse. From the first lap I had a lot of oversteer and it was a very difficult race. I tried every possible manoeuvre to defend my fifth position, but it was impossible to fend off all those guys who came with better pace and DRS. After I was fourth on the first lap I tried everything, I fought with everything, but in the end I couldn’t get into the points as I would have liked in this last race of the season. Now it’s time to think about next year, to prepare for next season and to be much stronger than this year”.
