The Birel Racing team started the first round of the WSK Euro Series with a new line-up of seven drivers. The young Swiss driver Kilian Josseron, recently transferred from Mini, made his first steps in OK-Junior with Birel ART, while OK drivers Cristian Bertuca and Karol Pasiewicz competed in their second KZ2 race.
During the Qualifying sessions, Giuseppe Palomba, Kirill Kutskov and Zoe Potolea Florescu were confronted with an unusual situation that sent them to the bottom of the rankings. Despite this disadvantage, Palomba managed to win the KZ2 Final while Kutskov achieved an incredible comeback to 7th position in OK-Junior. Zoe regained 16 places during the heats. Cristian was in the top 10 in KZ2, Oscar Targett in the top 10 of the Championship, while Karol added to his experience. And Kilian made a promising start. The morale and determination of the whole team made it possible to overcome the difficulties and to achieve extremely positive results.
“The Birel ART Racing team showed admirable cohesion and dynamism this weekend,” declared its manager Riccardo Longhi with enthusiasm. “Fortunately, we were able to rely on top quality equipment in both categories. All together we managed to turn around the starting situation which was not very favourable for three of our drivers. We couldn’t imagine that Giuseppe Palomba would succeed in winning in KZ2 after being deprived of his time in Qualifying. Kirill Kutskov amazed us with his ability to climb from the back of the grid. All in all, the human and technical results of this first WSK Euro Series are positive. We can’t wait to get ready for the second round in a fortnight’s time in Sarno.”
Palomba’s real achievement in KZ2
Giuseppe Palomba made a rare progression at this level by first regaining 20 places during the KZ2 heats, then another nine positions in the Prefinal. He then finished with a relentless victory by leading the Final from start to finish, all without a single mistake. Oscar Targett can be pleased with his performance in Lonato. 7th in Qualifying, he maintained the pace in the heats to finish 12th in the Final and return to 9th in the Championship. Cristian Bertuca performed well after his 8th place. His last two heats were complicated, but he finished 9th in the Final after a very promising 10-place improvement. Karol Pasiewicz was fast in Qualifying, but dropped out in the first heat and started to fall behind. He maintained his position in the Final stages before a penalty for a badly positioned front fairing.
Kutskov surpasses himself in OK-Junior
Another achievement of the weekend was the exceptional comeback by Kirill Kutskov after his unfortunate 62nd position in OK-Junior Qualifying. In the first heat, he showed his ambition by reaching the top five with a gain of 17 places. The rest of the race confirmed the talent of the driver and the competitiveness of the equipment. 48 places were gained at the end of the heats, and his prowess continued until the 7th position of a very competitive Final. Also 7th in the Championship, Kirill regained 55 places during the meeting. Zoe Potolea Florescu also made incredible progress since her 64th place in qualifying. She managed to regain 16 positions in the heats despite a retirement at the start of the A-D heat. Zoe never gave up, but failed to qualify for the Final, not helped by another retirement in the battle in the Prefinal. She still managed to get into the top 10 of a heat after a 11-place climb. Kilian Josseron was also able to achieve this result and his potential was appreciated by the team.
Vittoria nella KZ2 e prestazioni eccellenti a Lonato

Il giovane svizzero Kilian Josseron, recentemente trasferito dalla Mini, ha mosso i primi passi nella OK-Junior con Birel ART, mentre i piloti OK Cristian Bertuca e Pasiewicz hanno disputato la loro seconda gara nella KZ2.
Nelle qualifiche, Giuseppe Palomba, Kirill Kutskov e Zoe Potolea Florescu si sono trovati di fronte a una situazione insolita che li ha relegati in fondo alla classifica. Nonostante questo handicap, Palomba è riuscito a vincere la finale della KZ2, mentre Kutskov è riuscito a rimontare fino al settimo posto nella OK-Junior. Zoe ha recuperato 16 posizioni nelle manche. Cristian era nella Top-10 della KZ2, Oscar Targett nella Top-10 del campionato, Karol ha aumentato la sua esperienza. E Kilian ha iniziato in modo promettente. Il morale e la perseveranza di tutto il team hanno permesso di superare le difficoltà e di ottenere risultati estremamente positivi.

Vero e proprio exploit di Palomba nella KZ2
Giuseppe Palomba ha compiuto una rara progressione a questo livello, recuperando venti posizioni nelle manche della KZ2 e poi nove nella prefinale. Ha poi concluso con una vittoria che non ha lasciato scampo, avendo condotto la finale dall’inizio alla fine, il tutto senza un solo errore. Oscar Targett può essere soddisfatto della sua prestazione a Lonato. Settimo in qualifica, ha mantenuto il ritmo nelle manche per concludere al 12° posto in finale e rientrare in nona posizione in campionato. Cristian Bertuca si è comportato bene a partire dal suo ottavo tempo. Le sue ultime due manche sono state complicate, ma ha concluso con una bella finale, nono dopo un promettente miglioramento di dieci posizioni. Karol Pasiewicz è stato veloce nelle qualifiche, ma si è ritirato nella prima manche e ha accumulato ritardi. Tuttavia, ha mantenuto la sua posizione nelle fasi finali prima di una penalità per un posizionamento scorretto della carenatura anteriore.
Kutskov supera se stesso nella OK-Junior
Un altro exploit del fine settimana è stata l’eccezionale rimonta di Kirill Kutskov dopo la sfortunata 62ª posizione nella qualifica OK-Junior. Fin dalla prima manche, ha dimostrato la sua ambizione raggiungendo la Top-5 con un guadagno di 17 posizioni. Ciò che è seguito ha confermato il talento del pilota e la competitività del kart. Al termine delle manche aveva recuperato 48 posizioni, e l’impresa è continuata fino alla settima posizione di una finale molto competitiva. Settimo anche in campionato, Kirill ha recuperato 55 posizioni durante l’incontro. Anche Zoe Potolea Florescu ha compiuto incredibili progressi dopo il 64° posto nelle qualifiche. È riuscita a recuperare sedici posizioni nelle manche, nonostante un ritiro all’inizio della manche A-D. Zoe non si è mai arresa, ma non è riuscita a qualificarsi per la finale, non aiutata da un ulteriore ritiro nella battaglia per la pre-finale. È riuscita comunque a rientrare nella Top-10 di una manche al termine di una rimonta di 11 posizioni. Anche Kilian Josseron è stato in grado di ottenere questo risultato e il suo potenziale è stato apprezzato dalla squadra.
Victoire KZ2 et prestations hors du commun à Lonato
Le team Birel Racing abordait la 1re épreuve de la WSK Euro Series avec une formation inédite de 7 pilotes. Le jeune Suisse Kilian Josseron, récent transfuge de la Mini, effectuait ses premiers pas en OK-Junior avec Birel ART, tandis que les pilotes OK Cristian Bertuca et Karol Pasiewicz disputaient leur 2e compétition en KZ2.
Lors des essais qualificatifs, Giuseppe Palomba, Kirill Kutskov et Zoe Potolea Florescu furent confrontés à une situation inhabituelle qui les renvoyait tout en bas des classements. Malgré ce handicap, Palomba parvenait à gagner la finale KZ2 tandis que Kutskov réussissait une incroyable remontée jusqu’à la 7e position en OK-Junior. Zoe regagnait 16 places au cours des manches. Cristian rentrait dans le top 10 KZ2, Oscar Targett dans le top 10 du championnat, Karol enrichissait son expérience. Et Kilian effectuait des débuts prometteurs. Le moral et la persévérance de toute l’équipe ont permis de surmonter les difficultés et d’obtenir des résultats extrêmement positifs.

Kirill Kutskov nous a bluffés par sa capacité à remonter depuis le fond de la grille. Au final, le bilan humain et technique de cette première WSK Euro Series est positif. Nous avons hâte de nous préparer pour la 2e épreuve dans deux semaines à Sarno. »
Véritable exploit de Palomba en KZ2
Giuseppe Palomba a effectué une progression rare à ce niveau en regagnant d’abord 20 places durant les manches KZ2, puis encore 9 positions en préfinale. Il a ensuite achevé son parcours par une victoire implacable en ayant mené la finale du début à la fin, tout cela sans la moindre erreur. Oscar Targett peut se réjouir de sa prestation à Lonato. 7e en qualification, il a maintenu le rythme dans les manches pour terminer 12e de la finale et rentrer à la 9e position du championnat. Cristian Bertuca a affiché de belles performances depuis son 8e chrono. Ses deux dernières manches ont été compliquées, mais il a conclu sur une belle finale, 9e après une progression de 10 places des plus prometteuses. Rapide en qualification, Karol Pasiewicz abandonnait en 1re manche et accumulait les retards. Il maintenait cependant son rang dans les phases finales avant une pénalité pour carénage avant mal positionné.
Kutskov se surpasse en OK-Junior
Autre exploit du week-end, la remontée exceptionnelle de Kirill Kutskov après sa malheureuse 62e position en qualification OK-Junior. Dès la 1re manche, il a affiché son ambition en atteignant le top 5 avec un gain de 17 places. La suite a confirmé le talent du pilote et la compétitivité du matériel. 48 places étaient reprises au terme des manches, et la prouesse s’est poursuivie jusqu’à la 7e position d’une finale très disputée. Également 7e au championnat, Kirill aura regagné 55 places pendant le meeting. Zoe Potolea Florescu a également progressé de manière incroyable depuis sa 64e place en qualification. Elle a réussi à regagner 16 positions dans les manches malgré un abandon au départ de la manche A-D. Sans jamais démériter, Zoe n’a pas réussi à se qualifier pour la finale, peu aidée par un nouvel abandon dans la bataille lors de la préfinale. Elle est tout de même parvenue à rentrer dans le top 10 d’une manche au terme d’une remontée de 11 places. C’est aussi un résultat qu’a pu décrocher Kilian Josseron dont le potentiel a été apprécié par l’équipe.
