À seulement 11 ans, Maxime Furon-Castelain faisait en début de saison le choix audacieux d’une année 2019 de rookie en OK-Junior.
Il se devait en effet de poursuivre sa progression précoce après ses 11 victoires en 13 courses et ses titres de Champion de Belgique et du Benelux en X30 cadet l’année dernière.
Il lui a fallu moins de 4 mois pour se faire remarquer dans sa nouvelle catégorie en multipliant les meilleurs tours en course et en parvenant à se glisser aux avant-postes parmi des pilotes beaucoup plus expérimentés.
Ce potentiel prometteur n’a pas échappé au regard attentif de Ronni SALA, Président de Birel ART, qui a proposé à Maxime de rejoindre le team officiel de l’usine BIREL ART.
Maxime tient à remercier VDK Racing pour leurs nombreuses victoires ensemble, leur motorisation et avoue y avoir beaucoup appris dans un environnement parfois difficile. Il rejoint Birel ART avec son enthousiasme et son engagement habituels sur la piste. Son mécanicien Adrien Leidinger et son coach en pilotage Didier Blot l’accompagnent dans cette nouvelle aventure qui débutera avec le Championnat d’Europe dans quelques semaines au Mans.
« Je suis ravi que Maxime vienne renforcer notre équipe » a déclaré Ronni Sala. « C’est un pilote rapide, qui s’adapte et qui progresse vite. Nous sommes convaincu que nous ferons du bon travail ensemble et que les résultats confirmeront rapidement son fort potentiel, ainsi que celui de notre matériel. »

At only 11 years old, Maxime Furon-Castelain made the bold choice of spending 2019 as a rookie in OK-Junior at the beginning of the season, aiming to continue his early progression after 11 wins in 13 races and his Belgian and Benelux Championship in X30 Cadet last year.
It took him less than four months to get noticed in his new category with a string of fastest laps the race, as well as managing to slip into the front ranks among much more experienced drivers. This promising potential did not escape the attentive eyes of Ronni SALA, CEO of Birel ART who proposed that Maxime join the Official Factory Birel ART team.

Maxime would like to thank VDK Racing for their many victories together, their engines, and admits to having learned a lot in a sometimes difficult environment. He joins Birel ART with his usual enthusiasm and commitment on the track. His mechanic Adrien Leidinger and his driving coach Didier Blot will accompany him in this new adventure that will start with the European Championship in a few weeks at Le Mans.
