The fourth round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series which has just taken place on the Franciacorta track has perfectly fulfilled its role by allowing the official Birel ART Racing team to prepare for the conclusion of the OK and OK-Junior European Championship which will take place there in less than two weeks. The whole team has progressed and will be able to work on a good basis thanks to the data recorded in Franciacorta. Special mention for Cristian Bertuca who gained eight places during the OK Final to finish 16th.
The weather was hot in Franciacorta, but more bearable than in Cremona the week before. The compact track layout kept the drivers busy, especially in terms of finding the best grip and preserving the tyres. During the lively races, there were many collisions and run-offs, while penalties calmed down the over-enthusiastic competitors.
“The Franciacorta track requires a lot of work to set up the chassis,” said Riccardo Longhi, the Birel ART Racing team manager. “It’s all about finding the right settings to go fast while taking care of the tyres. We made a big step forward in this direction during the weekend and we will fine-tune our work in the workshop to be fully ready for the European Championship. For the Euro Series, we were lacking in Qualifying. The times were not very good, which reduced our chances of doing well. However, the technical team worked hard and our performance improved quickly. All our drivers were able to make up ground in the heats, despite the bumps that affected their progress significantly. Cristian Bertuca proved to be our best asset by improving 12 places during the OK heats, despite a retirement. His eight-place improvement in the Final confirmed our potential. Harley Keeble was in the same dynamic until he retired in the first lap of the Final, although he had made up four places in the Super Heat. Karol Pasiewicz and Ella Stevens encountered many obstacles on their way. In OK-Junior, problems delayed Reno Francot, who made up eight places in his first heat. With two unfinished heats, his efforts were not rewarded. Zoe Florescu Potolea, on the other hand, made good progress and climbed 14 places in her heats. Kirill Kutskov’s performance was unfortunately interrupted too early. We remain confident for the conclusion of the European Championship where he will have a good card to play with his 10th place in the provisional OK-Junior ranking.”
Weekend di studio in Franciacorta per Birel ART
La quarta prova della Champions of the Future Euro Series, che si è appena svolta sul circuito di Franciacorta, ha svolto perfettamente il suo ruolo permettendo al team ufficiale Birel ART Racing di prepararsi per la conclusione del Campionato Europeo OK e OK-Junior che si svolgerà su questa stessa pista tra meno di due settimane. L’intera squadra ha fatto progressi e potrà lavorare su una buona base grazie a tutti i dati registrati in Franciacorta. Una nota di merito a Cristian Bertuca, che ha rimontato di otto posizioni nella finale OK, piazzandosi al 16° posto.
In Franciacorta il clima era caldo, ma più sopportabile che a Cremona la settimana precedente. Il layout compatto della pista ha tenuto impegnati i piloti, soprattutto per trovare il grip migliore e risparmiare gli pneumatici. Nelle gare più movimentate non sono mancate collisioni e uscite di pista, mentre le penalità hanno calmato i concorrenti troppo irruenti.
“La pista di Franciacorta richiede un grande lavoro di messa a punto del telaio”, ha dichiarato Riccardo Longhi, Team Manager di Birel ART Racing. “Si tratta di trovare i giusti setting per andare veloci e al contempo gestire gli pneumatici. Abbiamo fatto un grande passo avanti in questa direzione durante il fine settimana e perfezioneremo il nostro lavoro in officina per arrivare pronti al Campionato Europeo. Per l’Euro Series ci mancavano alcuni punti di riferimento in qualifica. I tempi non erano molto buoni, il che ha ridotto le nostre possibilità di fare bene. Tuttavia, il team tecnico non è rimasto inattivo e le prestazioni sono migliorate rapidamente. Tutti i nostri piloti sono stati in grado di recuperare terreno nelle manche, nonostante le collisioni che hanno condizionato notevolmente la loro progressione. Cristian Bertuca ha dimostrato di essere la nostra risorsa migliore, rimontando di dodici posizioni durante le manche OK, nonostante un ritiro. La sua rimonta di otto posizioni in occasione della finale conferma il nostro potenziale. Harley Keeble era nello stesso trend se non fosse stato costretto al ritiro nel primo giro della finale dopo aver guadagnato altre quattro posizioni nella Super Heat. Karol Pasiewicz ed Ella Stevens hanno avuto un percorso ricco di insidie. Nella OK-Junior, i problemi hanno ritardato Reno Francot, che ha rimontato di otto posizioni nella sua prima manche. Con due manche non concluse, i suoi sforzi non sono stati premiati. Zoe Florescu Potolea, invece, ha fatto una buona progressione senza commettere errori e rimontando di 14 posizioni nelle sue manche. La performance di Kirill Kutskov è stata purtroppo interrotta troppo presto. Rimaniamo fiduciosi per la conclusione del Campionato Europeo dove avrà una grande carta da giocare con il suo decimo posto nella classifica provvisoria OK-Junior”.
Week-end studieux à Franciacorta pour Birel ART
La 4e épreuve de la Champions of the Future Euro Series qui vient de se dérouler sur la piste de Franciacorta a parfaitement rempli son rôle en permettant au team officiel Birel ART Racing de se préparer pour la conclusion du Championnat d’Europe OK et OK-Junior qui va s’y dérouler dans moins de deux semaines. Toute l’équipe a progressé et va pouvoir travailler sur des bonnes bases grâce à toutes les données enregistrées à Franciacorta. Mention spéciale pour Cristian Bertuca qui a repris 8 places de plus au cours de la finale OK pour terminer 16e.
Le temps était chaud à Franciacorta, mais plus supportable qu’à Cremona la semaine précédente. Le tracé compact de la piste a bien occupé les pilotes surtout en ce qui concerne la recherche de la meilleure adhérence et la préservation des pneumatiques. Lors de courses animées, les accrochages et les sorties de piste n’ont pas manqué tandis que les pénalités venaient calmer les compétiteurs trop ardents.
« La piste de Franciacorta nécessite un gros travail de mise au point des châssis », déclarait Riccardo Longhi, le team Manager du Birel ART Racing. « Il s’agit de trouver les bons réglages pour aller vite tout en ménageant les pneumatiques. Nous avons effectué un grand pas en avant dans ce sens pendant le week-end et nous allons peaufiner notre travail à l’atelier pour arriver tout à fait prêts au Championnat d’Europe. Pour l’Euro Series, nous manquions de repères en qualification. Les temps n’étaient pas très bons, ce qui a réduit nos chances de bien figurer. Cependant, l’équipe technique n’a pas chômé et les performances ont rapidement progressé. Tous nos pilotes ont pu regagner du terrain dans les manches, malgré les accrochages qui ont affecté leur progression de manière sensible. Cristian Bertuca s’est affirmé comme notre meilleur atout en progressant de 12 places pendant les manches OK, malgré un abandon. Sa remontée de 8 places lors de la finale confirme notre potentiel. Harley Keeble était dans la même dynamique jusqu’à son abandon dans le 1er tour de la finale alors qu’il avait regagné 4 places de plus en super manche. Karol Pasiewicz et Ella Stevens ont rencontré de nombreuses embûches sur leur chemin. En OK-Junior, les soucis ont retardé Reno Francot, bien remonté de 8 places dans sa première manche. Avec deux manches non terminées, ses efforts n’ont pas été récompensés. Zoe Florescu Potolea réussissait par contre une belle progression sans faux pas et remontait 14 places dans ses manches. La prestation de Kirill Kutskov s’est malheureusement interrompue trop tôt. Nous restons confiants pour la conclusion du Championnat d’Europe où il aura une belle carte à jouer avec sa 10e place au classement provisoire OK-Junior ».
