In advance of the official opening scheduled for Saturday, June 27, and the launch of the new web portal, the Marmolada Grande Guerra 3000 m museum has begun posting to Facebook and Twitter.
”We want to start reaching out to young people and families through dynamic and engaging communications,” said museum coordinator Giuliana Boscheri. “Social media are the ideal means of achieving this goal. They allow us to quickly enter into the everyday lives of people who are increasingly looking for tips on how to spend their time.”
Through Facebook and Twitter, the socially connected public has already been provided a preview of the significant renovation work that has completely transformed the highest museum in Europe. The museum is situated at an elevation of 3,000 meters, at the Punta Serauta cable car station on the Marmolada, the Queen of the Dolomites, a mountain range that has been declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.
Up there, thousands of soldiers in the Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies faced each other under extreme physical and environmental conditions. Sheltered in huts and caves carved into the rock, they were the unfortunate participants in a grueling war of position in which the struggle against bad weather, cold and exposure very often became more important than the actual combat against the enemy.
In the days before the official opening for the press and dignitaries, and the subsequent opening to the general public scheduled for Sunday, June 28, new information will be released about the exhibit spaces and the priceless documents that visitors can read and listen to at the museum.
The social media channels of Marmolada Grande Guerra 3000 m, with regular posts and tweets in two languages, Italian and English, will serve as the preferred source of information about the many cultural events scheduled during the summer.
