Con la conclusione degli incontri ufficiali, sotto la regia del presidente federale italiano Renato Di Rocco, con i massimi dirigenti dell’Unione Ciclistica Internazionale – il presidente Brian Cookson, i vicepresidenti Mohamed Wagih Azzam, Tracy Gaudry, David Lappartient, e praticamente tutti gli 11 componenti il Direttivo – si chiude anche la missione del Comitato Promotore di Vicenza per i Mondiali su strada in Veneto nel 2020.
La squadra capitanata dall’avvocato Claudio Pasqualin, presidente del Comitato Promotore, e composta da Moreno Nicoletti (vice-presidente) e da Alessandro Belluscio (consigliere), ha raccolto gli elementi indispensabili a completare il Dossier di Candidatura che verrà presentato all’UCI entro la data stabilita e confermata: 31 dicembre 2016. Cioè entro due mesi e mezzo.
Nelle prossime settimane il Comitato Promotore si confronterà con gli esperti dell’UCI per definire alcuni aspetti tecnici e perfezionerà la collaborazione con Eddy Merckx, il campionissimo e mentore di questi Mondiali in Qatar, che ha accettato di interpretare il ruolo di Ambasciatore delle rinnovate ambizioni del Veneto circa la conquista dei diritti ad organizzare la kermesse iridata del 2020.

The mission by the Vicenza Promotion Committee vying for the 2020 road cycling World Championships in Veneto has wrapped up their work here, in official meetings that are coming to a close between Italian Federal President Di Rocco and the higher-ups of the UCI International Cycling Union – President Brian Cookson, Vice Presidents Mohamed Wagih Azzam, Tracy Gaudry, David Lappartient, and practically all of the11 members of the commission.
The team was led by Claudio Pasqualin, Esquire, President of the Promotion Committee, and made up of Moreno Nicoletti (Vice-President) and Alessandro Belluscio (Councillor).Together they mustered some indispensable elements needed to complete a competitive Dossier for this candidacy bid, which will be presented to the UCI within the established and confirmed deadline of December 31st, 2016. That is two and a half months away.
In the following weeks the Promotions Committee will meet with UCI experts to work out some technical issues of the bid; they are also eager to solidify collaboration with Eddy Merckx, a legendary super-champion and a mentor at these World Championships in Qatar. Eddy has accepted the role of Ambassador in renewed ambitions on the part of the Veneto to secure the rights to organize the rainbow kermis in 2020.
