PADDON STILL IN THE LEAD AT RALLY ITALIA SARDEGNA
Alghero (Italy) June 13, 2015. Rally Italia Sardegna second leg is the longest in the World Rally Championship since 2002. Weather is sunny, a little windy at places, and it is very hot (28-32°C) on the special stages in this third day of the sixth 2015 WRC round. Hayden Paddon is defending the lead he took yesterday morning on a Hyundai i20 WRC. Co-driven by John Kennard, Kiwi driver, the first in WRC history to lead a world championship event outside New Zealand, still is leading the way and increased the advantage from 8.8 to 9.3sec on reigning champion Sebastien Ogier. On a Volkswagen Polo R WRC, French driver won SS11, the first held this morning, but could not do better than Hyundai’s rival in the following four test of the first loop. In third position, 59.6sec from Ogier, is Ott Tanak on a Ford Fiesta RS WRC, who was promoted from fifth passing Mads Ostberg’s Citreon DS 3 WRC, who won SS13 and still is fourth, and Jari-Matti Latvala on the second Polo R. Despite he won three of the five morning stages (SS12, SS14 Monte Lerno and SS15), Finn driver dropped from third to fifth after loosing more than three minutes when he had a puncture on SS13. Eight-time Italian champion Paolo Andreucci is keeping on leading WRC2 standings on a Peugeot 208 T16 R5, while the new WRC3 leader is Finn Teemu Suninen on a Citroen DS 3 RT after ACI Team Italia Andrea Crugnola and Fabio Andolfi, who led the category up to SS13, went off the road.
Second leg will continue starting at 15:02hrs with the short “Ittiri Arena 2”, then “Monti di Alà 2”, “Coiluna-Loelle 2” and the thrilling second run on Monte Lerno, to finish the day at the Service Park in Alghero at 21:40hrs. Sunday, June 14 the third and final leg will include other two test to be repeated twice before arrival at 13:30hrs.

Alghero (SS), 13 giugno, 2015. La seconda tappa dl Rally Italia Sardegna, sesto round del Campionato Mondiale, è la più lunga dell’intero campionato del Mondo dal Safari del 2002. Cielo sereno ed un po’ di vento sulle lunghe prove della terza giornata di gara sulla terra sarda. Hayden Paddon è impegnato a difendere la testa della corsa che il pilota australiano della Hyundai i20 WRC ha conquistato sin dalla seconda prova della prima tappa. Continua l’inseguimento di Sebastien Ogier, il campione francese della Volkswagen Polo R WRC ha vinto la breve prova di apertura di oggi. Anche l’altro driver Volkswagen Jari-Matti Latvala ha tentato l’assalto vincendo la PS 12 e la lunga 14, dove ha danneggiato una ruota, ma è scivolato al quinto posto dopo aver sostituito la ruota posteriore destra. In terza piazza è prontamente salito l’estone della Ford Fiesta RS WRC Ott Tanak, nonostante una foratura sulla PS 12. In quarta posizione, ma sempre più tallonato da Latvala, viaggia per ora il norvegese Mads Otsberg, soddisfatto del suo ritmo di gara e delle scelte di gomme operate per la Citroen DS 3 WRC. Nella WRC 2 continua la leadership del Campione italiano Paolo Andreucci, navigato da Anna Andreussi sulla Peugeot 208 T16 R5, che difende la posizione cercando di evitare le insidie delle impegnative prove. In WRC 3 è passato in testa il finlandese Teemu Suninen con la Citroen DS 3 RT, dopo che gli italiani Andolfi e Crugnola, alternatisi al vertice fino alla PS 13, hanno dovuto alzare bandiera bianca per uscita di strada.
Il secondo passaggio sulle prove inizierà alle 15.02 con la breve “Ittiri Arena 2” , poi la Monti di Alà 2”, la “Coiluna – Loelle 2” ed infine la lunga “Monte Lerno”. La tappa si concluderà alle 21.40 ad Alghero. Domani, domenica 14 giugno le quattro decisive e conclusive prove, prima dell’arrivo alle 13.30 ad Alghero.
