The Parolin Racing Kart team were delighted to be among the many participants in the 25th Winter Cup which has just taken place on the South Garda Karting circuit in Lonato.
James Wharton and Matheus Morgatto displayed the Parolin colours brilliantly in the OK category while new drivers discovered the potential of the brand from Bassano in OK-Junior. In Mini Rok, Rashid Al Dhaheri scored another success at the wheel of a Parolin chassis.
For its 25th anniversary, the famous Winter Cup in Lonato featured particularly favourable weather for the 300 participants from 47 countries. As always during this great race at the beginning of the season, battles proved to be increasingly fierce right up to the Finals on Sunday afternoon. Now a Prema Powerteam driver in F4, Gabriele Mini’ took the opportunity to come and greet the team, with whom he made his mark before moving on to single-seater racing, and was named 2019 FIA Karting Rookie of the Year.
Marco Parolin confided: “It was a great pleasure for us to see Gabriele at the Winter Cup. We have experienced an extraordinary adventure together, from Mini to OK, he has been our benchmark and development driver, a symbol of Parolin’s rise in the international categories. It was a particularly productive collaboration for both parties, it’s good that today’s young drivers realise what a close relationship based on mutual trust can bring.”
The presence of the official Parolin Racing Kart team in Lonato was part of the continuity of the programme established with the aim of preparing the drivers and the equipment at the beginning of the season in the most effective possible way.
“We took advantage of the good weather and the rising temperatures to accentuate our work on the grip in view of the upcoming major events”, explained Marco Parolin. “In OK-Junior, we were able to use the LeCont tyres that will be used in FIA Karting competitions for the first time in competition. Although our junior driver training is not yet complete, in OK Wharton and Morgatto are rising stars capable of pulling the whole team upwards”.
James Wharton fought steadily in the top four of the event until the start of the Final, while Matheus Morgatto performed well in the top three, with 2nd with the fastest lap in Super Heat 2, to make up for two setbacks and reach the Final. Meanwhile, Hugo Sasse and Mikael Saaskilahti were battling it out in the pack after distant Qualifying times. Several new drivers took advantage of the event to familiarise themselves with the team in OK-Junior. Maksim Orlov stood out for his speed and his ability to gain places, even though he was only competing in his second Junior race.
Many Parolin chassis were entered in the Mini Rok category and many of them scored very good results: for example, twelve of them finished in the top 20. Rashid Al Dhaheri took advantage of the opportunity to take another brilliant victory in the Parolin colours.

Il team Parolin Racing Kart ha voluto far parte dei numerosi partecipanti alla 25a Winter Cup che si è appena conclusa sul circuito del South Garda Karting a Lonato. James Wharton e Matheus Morgatto hanno brillantemente sfoggiato i colori di Parolin nella categoria OK mentre i nuovi piloti hanno scoperto il potenziale del marchio di Bassano nella OK-Junior. Nella Mini Rok, Rashid Al Dhaheri ha aggiunto un altro successo al suo palmarès al volante di un telaio Parolin.
Per il suo 25° anniversario la famosa Winter Cup di Lonato ha regalato condizioni atmosferiche particolarmente favorevoli ai 300 partecipanti provenienti da 47 paesi. Come sempre accade in questa grande gara di inizio stagione, le battaglie si sono rivelate molto agguerrite fino alle finali di domenica pomeriggio. Ormai pilota Prema Powerteam nella F4, Gabriele Minì ha voluto comunque esserci per salutare il team grazie al quale si è fatto notare prima di passare alle monoposto, essendo anche stato premiato come miglior Rookie FIA Karting 2019.
Marco Parolin ha dichiarato: «Ci ha fatto molto piacere che Gabriele sia venuto qui alla Winter Cup. Abbiamo vissuto un’avventura straordinaria insieme, dalla Mini alla OK, è stato il nostro pilota di punta e di sviluppo, simbolo dell’ascensione di Parolin nelle categorie internazionali. È stata una collaborazione particolarmente proficua per entrambe le parti, è un bene che i giovani piloti di oggi si rendano conto di ciò che può portare avere uno stretto rapporto basato sulla fiducia reciproca.»
La presenza del team ufficiale Parolin Racing Kart a Lonato si è iscritta nel segno della continuità del programma stabilito con l’obiettivo di preparare al meglio gli uomini e il mezzo a inizio stagione.
“Abbiamo approfittato del bel tempo e delle temperature in rialzo per focalizzare il nostro lavoro sul grip in vista dei grandi appuntamenti che ci aspettano”, ha spiegato Marco Parolin. “Nella OK-Junior abbiamo potuto montare per la prima volta in gara gli pneumatici LeCont delle competizioni FIA Karting. Se la nostra formazione di piloti junior non è ancora definitiva, nella OK Wharton e Morgatto sono in crescita e capaci di trascinare tutto il team verso l’alto.”
James Wharton si è battuto in effetti con costanza nella Top-4 della prova fino alla partenza della finale, mentre Matheus Morgatto ha fatto delle prodezze nella Top-3, secondo e miglior tempo nella Super Heat 2 per compensare i due imprevisti e raggiungere anche lui la finale. Al contempo Hugo Sasse e Mikael Saaskilahti si davano battaglia nel gruppo, dopo delle prove cronometrate non proprio brillanti. Molti nuovi piloti hanno approfittato della prova per scoprire la squadra nella OK-Junior. Maksim Orlov si è fatto notare per la sua velocità e la sua capacità di rimontare, nonostante si trattasse solo della seconda gara Junior.
Nella categoria Mini Rok erano impegnati molti telai Parolin e molti di essi hanno ottenuto ottimi risultati: sono stati in dodici a terminare nella Top-20. Rashid Al Dhaheri ha approfittato dell’occasione per conquistare brillantemente un’altra vittoria con i colori Parolin.

Le team Parolin Racing Kart a tenu à faire partie des nombreux engagés à la 25e Winter Cup qui vient de se dérouler sur le circuit de South Garda Karting à Lonato. James Wharton et Matheus Morgatto ont porté avec brio les couleurs de Parolin dans la catégorie OK tandis que de nouveaux pilotes sont venus découvrir le potentiel de la marque de Bassano en OK-Junior. En Mini Rok, Rashid Al Dhaheri engrangeait un nouveau succès au volant d’un châssis Parolin.
Pour son 25e anniversaire, la célèbre Winter Cup de Lonato a offert une météo particulièrement favorable aux 300 participants venus de 47 pays. Comme toujours lors de cette grande course de début de saison, les batailles se sont révélées de plus en plus acharnées jusqu’aux finales du dimanche après-midi. Désormais pilote Prema Powerteam en F4, Gabriele Mini‘ n’a pas manqué l’occasion de venir saluer l’équipe grâce à laquelle il s’est fait remarquer avant de passer en monoplace, en étant d’ailleurs consacré meilleur Rookie FIA Karting 2019.
Marco Parolin se confiait : « Cela nous a fait très plaisir que Gabriele soit présent à la Winter Cup. Nous avons vécu une aventure extraordinaire ensemble, du Mini à l’OK, il a été notre pilote de référence et de développement, symbole de l’ascension de Parolin dans les catégories internationales. C’était une collaboration particulièrement productive pour les deux parties, il est bon que les jeunes pilotes d’aujourd’hui se rendent compte de ce que peut apporter une relation étroite basée sur la confiance mutuelle ».
La présence du team officiel Parolin Racing Kart à Lonato s’inscrivait dans la continuité du programme établi avec l’objectif de préparer au mieux les hommes et le matériel en début de saison.
« Nous avons profité du beau temps et des températures en hausse pour accentuer notre travail sur le grip en vue des grands rendez-vous qui nous attendent », expliquait encore Marco Parolin. « En OK-Junior, nous avons pu chausser pour la 1re fois en course les pneus LeCont des compétitions FIA Karting. Si notre formation de pilotes juniors n’est pas encore définitive, en OK Wharton et Morgatto sont des valeurs montantes capables de tirer toute l’équipe vers le haut ».
James Wharton se battait en effet avec constance dans le top 4 de l’épreuve jusqu’au départ de la finale, tandis que Matheus Morgatto effectuait des prouesses dans le top 3, P2 et meilleur temps dans la Super Heat 2, pour compenser deux contretemps et atteindre lui aussi la finale. Pendant ce temps, Hugo Sasse et Mikael Saaskilahti bataillaient dans le peloton après des chronos lointains. Plusieurs nouveaux pilotes profitaient de l’épreuve pour découvrir l’équipe en OK-Junior. Maksim Orlov s’est fait remarquer par sa rapidité et sa capacité de remonter, alors qu’il disputait seulement sa 2e course Junior.
De nombreux châssis Parolin étaient engagés dans la catégorie Mini Rok et beaucoup d’entre eux ont obtenu de très bons résultats : ils étaient par exemple douze à terminer dans le top 20. Rashid Al Dhaheri a profité de l’occasion pour décrocher avec brio une nouvelle victoire sous les couleurs Parolin.
