Present for the first time at Frankfurt Book Fair

For the first time, Turisme de Barcelona took part this year in the Frankfurt Book Fair at a joint stand shared with Barcelona City Council, the Publishers’ Guild and Ramon Llull Institute.

Under the logo Barcelona, publishing capital / Catalonia, land of books, the stand acted as an umbrella for institutional representatives and Catalan publishers.

By attending this kind of fair, Barcelona tourist board plans to promote the city at events not just related to tourism as a more direct way of targeting certain strategic markets that can boost cultural tourism and better quality tourist segments.

Frankfurt Book Fair is a unique shop window for the international publishing sector, highlighting the potential and creativity of different countries. Over 250,000 professionals and members of the public visit the fair.

At the stand, Turisme de Barcelona presented its brochure of literary routes, aimed at promoting Barcelona as a cultural city and literary capital. In Barcelona’s capacity as a UNESCO City of Literature and member of the Creative Cities Network, a number of initiatives have been planned by Turisme de Barcelona to promote the city’s literary facet, the highpoint of which takes place on April 23rd, Saint George’s Day or the Day of the Book, in the city’s streets.
