The shortened 2020 season did not stop Sodikart continuing its path at the forefront of international competition.
For this 2020 edition of the World Championship at Lonato, the Sodi Racing Team was able to maintain its position at the front of the KZ category, as shown by the new podium for Bas Lammers. At the same time, the satellite team CPB Sport lined up 12 drivers in KZ2 with exceptional performances.
Since 2015, Sodikart has played a leading role in the elite category of international karting by reaching the podium of the World KZ Championship five times. It is by far the only brand that has achieved such consistency in performance over the years.
Another KZ World Podium with Lammers
The big FIA Karting meeting in Lonato wasn’t easy to manage because of the changing weather conditions, in addition to the ever greater intensity in the battle for victory. The official drivers of the French brand honoured Sodikart’s reputation for quality. Setting the 5th fastest lap time among the best drivers in the world, Bas Lammers was 4th at the end of the heats, just in front of Adrien Renaudin who had gained seven places in this phase. Lammers continued his climb in a Final complicated by a short rain shower before the start. He quickly reduced the gap to the first two drivers and launched into the battle with the defending champion, as well as watching his back. Although Renaudin wasn’t able to defend his chances as he would have liked, like last year Lammers managed to mount the world podium in front of many famous rivals.
Great success in KZ2
For several seasons now, the world of racing has got used to seeing Sodi chassis shine in international KZ2 thanks to CPB Sport. This year again, the satellite team of the Nantes factory lined up a large number of drivers for the FIA Karting International Super Cup – KZ2. Paul Bizalion’s team fully achieved its goal with Final qualification for six Sodi chassis, i.e. half of its squad. Before that, the young Arthur Carbonnel had set the 3rd fastest time out of 99 participants and Lorenzo Giannoni was in the provisional lead on Saturday evening. In total, the Sodi chassis won no less than six heats. The Final allowed three CPB drivers to finish in the top 10 of this world event. After a great start, Arthur Carbonnel managed to take the lead of the Final on lap 5 before dropping back in front of very experienced drivers. He still managed an excellent 7th place in front of Hubert Petit, who moved up 11 places in 25 laps. The young Dutch hopeful Senna van Walstijn made exceptional progress of 16 positions and set the fastest lap of the race. He reached an unthinkable 9th position knowing that he had set only the 55th time in Qualifying. The Final was unfortunately more difficult for Lorenzo Giannoni who finished in 15th position.

Un nouveau podium mondial en KZ et des excellentes performances en KZ2
La saison 2020 écourtée n’a pas empêché Sodikart de poursuivre son chemin aux avant-postes de la compétition internationale. Pour cette édition 2020 du Championnat du Monde à Lonato, le Sodi Racing Team a été en mesure de se maintenir au sommet de la catégorie KZ comme l’atteste le nouveau podium obtenu par Bas Lammers. Dans le même temps, le team satellite CPB Sport alignait 12 pilotes en KZ2 avec un taux de réussite et des performances exceptionnelles.
Depuis 2015, Sodikart a toujours joué les premiers rôles dans la catégorie d’élite du karting international en montant cinq fois sur le podium du Championnat du Monde KZ. C’est de loin la seule marque ayant atteint une telle régularité dans la performance au fil des années.
Nouveau podium mondial KZ avec Lammers
Le grand rendez-vous FIA Karting de Lonato n’a pourtant pas été facile à gérer à cause de conditions météorologiques changeantes, en plus de l’intensité encore renforcée dans la lutte pour la victoire. Les pilotes officiels de la marque française faisaient honneur à la réputation de qualité de Sodikart. Auteur du 5e chrono parmi les meilleurs pilotes mondiaux, Bas Lammers se classait 4e à l’issue des manches, juste devant Adrien Renaudin qui avait repris 7 places dans cette phase. Lammers poursuivait son ascension lors d’une finale compliquée par un court passage pluvieux avant le départ. Il réduisait rapidement l’écart avec les deux premiers et venait se mêler à la bagarre avec le Champion en titre tout en surveillant ses arrières. Si Renaudin n’était pas en mesure de défendre ses chances comme il l’aurait voulu, Lammers réussissait comme l’an passer à monter sur le podium mondial devant un grand nombre d’adversaires renommés.
Belle réussite en KZ2
Depuis plusieurs saisons, le monde de la compétition s’est habitué à voir les châssis Sodi briller en KZ2 internationale grâce à CPB Sport. Cette année encore, le team satellite de l’usine nantaise alignait un grand nombre de pilotes lors de la Super Coupe Internationale FIA Karting – KZ2. L’équipe de Paul Bizalion remplissait pleinement son but en obtenant la qualification finale de 6 châssis Sodi, soit la moitié de son effectif. Avant cela, le jeune Arthur Carbonnel avait réalisé le 3e meilleur chrono sur 99 participants et Lorenzo Giannoni occupait la 1re place provisoire samedi soir. Au total, les châssis Sodi remportaient pas moins de 6 manches. La finale permettait à trois pilotes CPB de terminer dans le top 10 de cette épreuve mondiale. Après un départ canon, Arthur Carbonnel parvenait à prendre les commandes de la finale durant le 5e tour avant de rétrograder face à des pilotes très expérimentés. Il assurait tout de même une très belle 7e place devant Hubert Petit, remonté de 11 places en 25 tours. Le jeune espoir néerlandais Senna van Walstijn opérait quant à lui une progression exceptionnelle de 16 positions et réalisait le meilleur tour de la course. Il atteignait une impensable 9e position sachant qu’il avait réalisé seulement le 55e chrono. La finale s’avérait malheureusement plus difficile pour Lorenzo Giannoni qui terminait à la 15e place.
