Tour de Pologne started today from Solidarity Square just in front of the famous number 2 gate at the shipyard in Gdansk.
Guest of honour of Tour de Pologne was the historical leader of Solidarnosc, Nobel peace prize in 1983 and President of Poland from 1990 to 1995, Lech Walesa.
Walesa with the Tour de Pologne general director Czeslaw Lang, the mayor of Gdansk Pawel Adamowicz and Rafal Majka as representative of the riders laid two garlands of flowers, one with the colours of Poland and one with the colours of EU, at the monument that commemorate the events of 1970 when many people died during street riots protesting against the communist regime.
