Juan Manuel Correa - FIA F3 Championship G.P. de Austria 2021 (RUBIO)

This weekend, the FIA F3 Championship reaches its halfway point with the fourth round of the seven-race calendar at the Hungaroring circuit, which celebrates the 35th anniversary of its construction.

The race program is the usual of every weekend, with three races, two on Saturday and one on Sunday, as a support race for F1. Also the practice sessions on Friday, followed by the Qualifying, which on this track will be very important because it is very difficult to overtake. Friday, which could be considered less important, becomes key in F3, as Juan Manuel, who comes back to Budapest after competing there in GP3 in 2018 and in F2 in 2019 explains.

This is the 36 edition of the F1 Grand Prix that has taken place on this technical track. Juan Manuel will walk around it tomorrow on foot to examine the track and check if there are small changes from what he has experiences these last few days in the ART simulator, which is about 100km south of the French capital.

“The Budapest track is one of the circuits I like most, I competed there in 2018 in GP3 and in F2 in 2019. It’s quite a technical track and very physical, specially this year, which is very hot. It has long corners where you feel the fatigue even more and there is no place to rest, with a very long straight, so I think it will be a physical challenge to all of us, but we’ll see how we do. It’s a circuit in which it’s very difficult to overtake and that makes Qualifying an extremely important session, so we’ll need to focus on that. Already since the race at the Red Bull Ring our focus has been to prepare the car during the free practice to have a good Qualifying and start the weekend well, because a good Qualifying can change your whole weekend. I hope to be able to qualify in the top 8 and fight in the three races to take points and get on the podium. That’s the goal” explains Juan Manuel, that is increasing his own level of exigence each weekend to reach the end of the season in good shape to face the challenges that await him in his sports career.
