Lausanne – Despite the lack of snowfall and spring-like temperatures more suited to the end-of-season classic competitions than to winter ski mountaineering’s ones, the local organising committee has been able to offer a selective race (1600 m of positive difference in altitude) with steep, technical and narrow couloirs both in the uphill and downhill parts that have enhanced the skills of the most expert athletes.

Xavier Gachet (FRA) has been the first Senior Men athlete to cross the finish line, located on the slopes of the local ski resort. The Italian teammates Matteo Eydallin and Michele Boscacci have stood on the podium with him, in second and third position respectively. Among Women of the same category, the French Axelle Gachet-Mollaret has arrived first, followed by her compatriot Emily Harrop and the Swiss Alessandra Schmid.

As for the U23 Men, Aurélien Gay (SUI) has been crowned as male winner, ahead of Giovanni Rossi (ITA – 2° place) and Matteo Sostizzo (ITA – 3° place). Regarding the Women, the Italian Katia Mascherona has taken the win over the two French athletes Mallaurie Mattana and Marie Charlotte Iratzoquy.

Among the U20 Men, today’s strongest racer has been Thomas Bussard (SUI), while his twin brother Robin and the French Anselme Damevin have got in order the silver and the bronze medal. Thibe Deseyn (SUI), Caroline Ulrich (SUI) and Margot Ravinel (FRA) have reached the first three positions of the same category’s female podium.

After the successful Swiss stage in Morgins, now the WÜRTH MODYF ISMF World Cup will stop off in the Italian mountains of Valmalenco, in the province of Sondrio, where the locations of Chiesa and Caspoggio will host an Individual race on Thursday 3 and a Sprint race Saturday 5 February. These competitions will be the last two before the European Championship to be held the following week in Boí Taüll, Spain.
