Ahead of the eleventh round of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 season, that will be held this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, Charouz Racing System is glad to welcome in the team Tatiana Calderón. The Colombian driver will replace Turkish Cem Bölükbasi, whose contract with the Czech team has been terminated with mutual agreement during the August break.

Currently racing in the NTT Indycar Series, Calderón is definitely no stranger to Formula 2, nor to the Spa-Francorchamps track. She competed in the series in 2019, when she was also a reserve driver for Alfa Romeo in Formula 1, and she also had the chance to race at the legendary Belgian track several other times in the past seasons with Formula 3 and LPM2 cars.

She will race alongside teammate Enzo Fittipaldi, who’s had another really positive weekend in the previous round at Hungaroring and is now P4 in the Drivers’ Standings. The Brazilian, whose growth has been remarkable since the beginning of this season, has already raced at the historical circuit in the 2020 FIA Formula 3 season and, after several podium finishes, is looking for his first victory in Formula 2.

This is the first round of the triple header that will continue in the following weekends at Zandvoort and Monza, before the grand finale at Abu Dhabi in November. The schedule for the weekend, which will most likely be affected by the high possibility of rain, will see the cars hitting the track for Free Practice and Qualifying on Friday, while the Sprint Race will go underway on Saturday afternoon and the Feature Race on Sunday morning.

Antonín Charouz, team owner
“I can confirm that Cem is no longer a member of our team, during the break we mutually agreed on terminating his contract and we wish him all the best for his future career. On the other hand, we’re very happy to welcome Tatiana. We have been following her for a long time, she’s a very competitive driver and her experience will surely be really valuable for the team. This weekend will be very important for us, because we have four rounds left and a demanding triple header ahead, that will require our best effort in order to arrive at Abu Dhabi to close the season on a high. Enzo is delivering an amazing streak of performances and we hope he can clinch with our support his first win in Formula 2 and the top 3 in the championship. Spa is one of the most beautiful circuits in the world and we can’t wait to get racing again”.

Enzo Fittipaldi
“It’s race week-end in Spa! I’m really looking forward to it, as I raced here for the first time in 2020 in Formula 3. It’s an amazing track, very fast and I love that. It will be a week-end with tricky conditions because it looks like we have a high chance of rain on Friday and Saturday, but I love this kind of weather so I can’t wait to get on track and race at Spa in Formula 2”.

Tatiana Calderon
“I’m really excited about my return to the Formula 2 Championship, I still can’t believe I’m back. It’s been a long while since I drove the car, but it is an amazing opportunity which I want to make the most out of. I’m very thankful to the Charouz Racing System and I’m really looking forward to this busy triple-header of races and beyond”.
