Riva on display alongside the artistic marvels of Salvador Dalí
There has always been a strong, fertile bond between artists and the nautical art of Riva. It has produced ample fruits in the worlds of film, fashion and industrial design.
The close ties between artistic prowess and yachting ingenuity have been underlined thanks to the creative spark provided by the marvellous Salvador Dalí exhibition, which will take place in the Porto Cervo Conference Centre until 22 September. Visitors will get the chance to see 100 watercolour woodblock prints produced and signed by the master of surrealism. They are all illustrations of the Divine Comedy: the masterpiece by the Italian poet Dante Alighieri. They will appear alongside two exhibitions dedicated to legendary Riva exploits.
The first is entitled “Riva Corsa” and it features pictures and photographs from the highly acclaimed book RIVA CORSA. The Origin of the Myth. The publication depicts the world of boat racing, in which Serafino Riva (Carlo Riva’s father) claimed a stunning series of wins, awards and records from the 1930s onwards. The remarkable sporting feats are noteworthy for a number of reasons, including the fact that they helped to shape the sublime skills of Carlo Riva, teaching him to design and build vessels that were not just attractive but also fast and capable of exceptional performances.
“Riva e le donne” (“Riva and Women”) is a photography exhibition that charts the long, never-ending love felt by women all over the world for one of the most popular names in Italian style. The pictures portraying the liaison contain not only Hollywood stars but also the women who worked behind the scenes to build the dream. Every single one of them felt the allure of the timeless lines of the runabouts, the prized types of wood, the sparkling chrome and the colours, including the famous “Riva aquamarine blue”.

La bella mostra dedicata a Salvador Dalì, ospitata fino al 22 settembre nelle sale del Conference Center di Porto Cervo, ha funzionato come stimolo creativo per ribadire la stretta connessione fra arte magistrale e nautica geniale. Cento straordinarie xilografie acquerellate, realizzate e firmate dal maestro del surrealismo, che illustrano la Divina Commedia di Dante Alighieri saranno, infatti, affiancate da due mostre dedicate al mito Riva.
La prima, “Riva Corsa” propone immagini e fotografie dell’apprezzatissimo libro “RIVA CORSA. The Origin of the Myth” e racconta quel mondo delle corse in cui Serafino Riva, padre di Carlo, conseguì una serie impressionante di vittorie, titoli e record, a partire dagli anni ’30. Questa straordinaria vicenda sportiva è degna di attenzione anche perché contribuì a formare il genio di Carlo Riva che qui imparò a disegnare e costruire barche non solo belle, ma anche performanti e sicure.
”Riva e le donne” è una mostra fotografica che documenta la lunga e mai interrotta storia d’amore tra le donne di tutto il mondo e uno dei marchi più amati dell’Italian Style. Nelle immagini che raccontano questa liaison ci sono i volti delle star di Hollywood, ma anche le donne che hanno lavorato dietro le quinte alla costruzione del sogno. Perché tutte sono state sedotte dalle linee intramontabili dei runabout, dai legni pregiati, dalle cromature scintillanti e dai colori, tra cui il celebre “azzuro Riva acquamarina”.
