Al Attiyah gets lost and let Al-Rajhi to go ahead Salvatierra wins among bikes

Pharaons first stage suddenly heated pilots tempers, most of all because of the high temperatures that accompanied them during the whole day, reaching 48 degrees.
A difficult day, especially for navigation, that created some important plot twist.

The 221 km Special Stage, rode among scenographic canyons and old caravan tracks, brought the 2014 Pharaons first surprise: Nasser Al Attiyah actually took the wrong track around km 100 by squeezing in the wrong valley and leaving almost thirteen minutes to today winner, Saudi Yazeed Al-Rajhi who made today a competition based on an attack strategy.

Behind him the World Cup leader Vladimir Vasilyev, from Russia with a delay of 3’50’’.

Vasilyev leads the small three Mini all4Racing squad, in front of Dutch Erik Van Loon and Al Attiyah. Fifth and sixth position for the two Hummer H3, with Kazakh Yuriy Sazonow and Czech Miroslav Zapletal.

Seventh position for Marek Dabrowski, delayed by an electric problem and arrived before Tarek El Erian, first Egyptian pilot to reach the finish line.

Among bikes the best time was made by Venezuelan Nicolas Cardona, but he got a penalty for having missed a waypoint. Today winner so, is Bolivian Salvatierra, who lost lot of time because of a mistake but that made fastness his better weapon. Behind him Italian Stefano Chiussi, with a delay of 8 minutes from Salvatierra, while the other Venezuelan Rafael Eraso has a delay of more than twenty minutes and is behind italian Stefano Turchi
Rafal Sonik, leader in quad World Cup classification has been the fastest among four wheels.

Nasser Al Attiyah: “Around km. 100 we took the wrong valley missing a waypoint. I’ve tried to cut to go and catch it but it has not been a good idea…

Yazeed Al-Rajhi: “It has been a great day, it has been a perfect strategy to choose the fifth starting position. We passed Dabrowsky, then I made more than 100km in Vesilyev’s dust before succeeding in overtaking him. At the finish line I discovered that Nasser was still not arrived…“

Marek Dabrowski: “We had small electric problems that made us slow down our rhythm. Fortunately it’s something easily solvable.”

Juan Carlos Salvatierra: “A difficult day for navigation, I had some problem to find a watchpoint and lost lots of time but by the end it has been a very positive day.
Tomorrow stage will be a good exam, to open a Pharaons track is always a difficult experience.”

Rafal Sonik: “I got lost twicw , and met lots motos in the same conditions. Most of all I made a CAP mistake that made me loose almost 15 minutes. However, I’m happy to have finished such a difficult stage.”

LUXOR – La prima tappa del Pharaons ha riscaldato subito gli animi dei piloti, soprattutto per le elevatissime temperature che hanno accompagnato tutta la giornata, con punte di 48 gradi.
Una giornata subito difficile, soprattutto per la navigazione, che ha creato qualche importante colpo di scena.

La prova speciale di 221 chilometri, tra scenografici canyon e antiche piste carovaniere, ha portato la prima grande sorpresa del Pharaons 2014: Nasser Al Attiyah ha infatti sbagliato strada attorno al centesimo chilometro, infilandosi nella valle errata e lasciando sul terreno quasi tredici minuti al vincitore della giornata, il saudita Yazeed Al-Rajhi, autore oggi di una prova tutta all’attacco. Alle sue spalle ha concluso il leader della coppa del Mondo, il russo Vladimir Vasilyev, staccato di 3’50’’. Vasilyev guida il piccolo plotone di tre Mini All4 Racing, avendo preceduto l’olandese Erik Van Loon e Al Attiyah. Quinto e sesto posto per i due Hummer H3, quello del kazako Yuriy Sazonow e quello del ceco Miroslav Zapletal.

Settimo posto per Marek Dabrowski, attardato da un problema elettrico e terminato davanti a Tarek El Erian, primo pilota egiziano al traguardo.

Tra le moto il miglior tempo è stato del venezuelano Nicolas Cardona, ma su di lui pesa la penalizzazione per aver saltato un waypoint, relegandolo al terzo posto. Il vincitore della giornata è così il boliviano Salvatierra, che ha perso molto tempo per un errore di percorso ma ha fatto della velocità la sua arma migliore. Alle sue spalle l’italiano Stefano Chiussi, staccato di otto minuti da Salvatierra, mentre l’altro venezuelano Rafael Eraso, quinto, ha un distacco di oltre venti minuti ed è preceduto da Stefano Turchi. Rafal Sonik, leader della classifica quad nel Mondiale, è stato il più veloce tra i quattro ruote.

Nasser Al Attiyah: “Attorno al chilometro 100 abbiamo preso la valle sbagliata mancando un waypoint. Ho cercato di tagliare per andare a prenderlo, ma non è stata una buona idea…”

Yazeed Al-Rajhi: “E’ stata una grande giornata, è stata un’ottima strategia aver scelto la quinta posizione di partenza. Abbiamo passato Dabrowski, poi ho fatto oltre 100 chilometri nella polvere di Vesilyev prima di riuscire a superarlo. Al traguardo ho saputo che Nasser non era ancora arrivato… “

Marek Dabrowski: “Abbiamo avuto piccoli problemi elettrici che ci hanno costretto a rallentare il ritmo. Fortunatamente si tratta di qualcosa di facilmente risolvibile.”

Juan Carlos Salvatierra: “Una giornata dalla navigazione difficile, ho avuto qualche problema a trovare un waypoint perdendo molto tempo, ma alla fine è stata una giornata molto positiva. Domani sarà un bell’esame, aprire la pista al Pharaons è sempre un’esperienza difficile.”

Rafal Sonik: “Mi sono perso due volte, incontrando molte moto nelle mie stesse condizioni. Soprattutto ho fatto un errore di CAP che mi ha portato a perdere almeno 15 minuti. Comunque sono contento di essere arrivato al termine di una tappa così difficile.”

LUXOR – La première étape du Pharaons a tout de suite chauffé les esprits des pilotes, surtout pour les températures très élevées qui les ont accompagné pour toute la journée, avec des maximum de 48 dégrées.
Une journée qui a été difficile , surtout pour la navigation et qui a crée des importants coups de théâtre.

L’épreuve spécial de 221 km, entre canyons scénographique et ancienne routes de caravan, a donné la première surprise du Pharaons: Nasser Al Attiyah a trompé la route à peu près au km 100, en passant dans une mauvais vallée et a laissé treize minutes au gagnant la journée le Saudi Yazeed Al-Rajhi, qui a fait aujourd’hui une épreuve toute à l’attaque.
Derrière lui, le le leader de la Coupe du Monde, le russe Vladimir Vasilyev, avec un retard de 3’50’’. Vasilyev conduis la petit section de trois Mini All4 Racing, en ayant precedé le néerlandais Erik Van Loon et Al Attiyah. Cinquième est Sixième place pour les deux Hammer H3, du kazakh Yuriy Sazonow et du kazakh et du tchèque Miroslav Zapletal.

Septieme place pour Marek Dabrowski, qui a été retardé par un problème électrique et qui est arrivé devant Tarek El Erian,le première pilot égyptien au ligne d’arrivé.

Entre les motos le meilleur temps a été celui du vénézuélien Nicolas Cardona, mais il a eu une une pénalité pour avoir manqué un waypoint. Le gagnant de la journée a si été le bolivien Salvatierra, qui a perdu beaucoup de temps pour un erreur dans le parcours ma qui a fait de la vitesse son arme meilleure.
Derrière lui, l’italien Stefano Chiussi, avec un retard de huit minutes de Salvatierra, tandis que l’autre vénézuélien Rafael Eraso a un retard de plus que vingt minutes. Rafal Sonik, leader de la classification quad dans la Coupe du Monde, a été le plus vite entre les quatre roues.

Nasser Al Attiyah: “autour km 100 nous avons pris la mauvais vallée et on manqué un waypoint. J’ai cherché de couper pour aller le prendre, mail n’as pas été une bonne idée…”

Yazeed Al-Rajhi: “Il a été une grande journée, il a été une très bonne stratégie de choisir le cinquième position pour le départ. On a dépassé Dabrowski, puis j’ai fait plus que 100 km dans la poudre de Vesilyev avant de réussir en lui dépasser. Au ligne d’arrivé j’ai su que Nasser n’était pas encore arrivé…“

Marek Dabrowski: “on a eu des petits problèmes électriques qui nous ont obligé a ralentir le rythme. Heureusement la résolution sera facile.”

Juan Carlos Salvatierra: “Une journée difficile pour la navigation, j’ai eu quelques problème pour trouver un waypoint et j’ai perdu beaucoup de temps, mais à la fin, il a été une journée très positive. Demain sera un bel examen, c’est toujours une expérience difficile d’ouvrir la piste aux Pharaons.”

Rafal Sonik: “Je me suis perdu deux fois, en rencontrant beaucoup des motos dans la même situation. Surtout j’ai fait un erreur de CAP qui m’a fait perdre à peu près 15 minutes. Mais je suis heureux d’avoir terminé une étape si difficile.”
