Gabriele Mini’ and the Parolin Racing team learned their lessons from the Angerville French Championship meeting to prepare for the first round of the FIA Karting European Championship – OK, which was held on the same circuit two weeks later.
Thanks to his extremely effective equipment, the Sicilian driver was able to avoid the pitfalls of this difficult race to wisely finish in 3rd place in the Final and the provisional classification.
“It’s comforting to be able to count on the composure of a driver like Gabriele,” commented Marco Parolin. “He was very calm while the event was fraught with risks, he showed that he perfectly understood the strategy for a Championship with four events. Very fast, he set several fastest laps in the race including the Final, which allowed him to reach the podium. Thanks to him, we have scored significant points for the rest of the European confrontation. As for the Juniors, I want to highlight the performance of Kucharczyk of Team Baby Race who demonstrated the quality of the Parolin chassis with two wins in the heats and 7th in the Final, which earned him 4th place in the Championship.
It was not just a question of pure performance at Angerville. The event was fraught with risk, as was shown by frequent incidents and the high number of penalties. In addition, the differences were small between the fastest drivers and the French track was not conducive to overtaking. However, it was easy to lose everything during a collision.
Very convincing performance in OK
Being able to count on top equipment, Gabriele Mini’ excelled in these particular conditions. After setting the fastest time of his group, he was 5th out of the 66 participants in this European Championship. He had three fastest laps in his five Qualifying Heats and returned to 3rd on the starting grid. The positions froze quickly and despite all his efforts he could not attack his rivals, even though he finished less than three tenths of a second behind with another fastest lap in the race.
A positive event for the Championship
With the 24 points scored in France, Mini has made sure Parolin is not outdistanced and can continue the European competition with the highest hopes while many favourites have already fallen behind. The second round of the FIA Karting European Championship – OK will take place at Genk, in Belgium in less than a month.
Difficult weekend in Junior
Undaunted by the specifics of the Angerville circuit, Brando Badoer and Martinius Stenshorne experienced a complicated European opening round after a disappointing Qualifying. Their efforts to come back in the Qualifying Heats came up against various incidents and penalties that did not allow them to qualify for the Final.

Gabriele Minì e il team Parolin Racing hanno saputo trarre dal Campionato di Francia di Angerville degli insegnamenti utili per la prima prova del Campionato europeo FIA Karting – OK che si è disputato sullo stesso circuito due settimane dopo. Grazie a un mezzo estremamente performante, il pilota siciliano ha saputo evitare le insidie di questa difficile gara per concludere con buon senso al terzo posto la finale e la classifica provvisoria.
“È confortante poter contare sul sangue freddo di un pilota come Gabriele”, ha commentato Marco Parolin. “Ha dato prova di grande calma quando lo scontro sportivo è stato molto rischioso, dimostrando che aveva assimilato alla perfezione la strategia di un campionato che si disputa su quattro prove. Molto veloce, ha fatto registrare vari giri più veloci in gara tra cui quello della finale che gli ha permesso di salire sul podio. Grazie a lui ci siamo aggiudicati dei punti importanti per il prosieguo della competizione europea. Per quanto concerne la Junior vorrei sottolineare la performance di Kucharczyk del Team Baby Race che ha dimostrato la qualità dei telai Parolin con due vittorie nelle manche e il settimo posto finale che gli è valsa la quarta posizione in campionato.”
In effetti ad Angerville non si trattava unicamente di pura performance. La prova comportava numerosi rischi come hanno dimostrato i frequenti incidenti e l’elevato numero di penalità. Inoltre, i distacchi tra i migliori erano minimi e il tracciato francese non era favorevole alle rimonte o ai sorpassi frequenti. Al contrario era facile perdere tutto a causa di un contatto.
Prestazione molto convincente nella OK
Potendo contare su un mezzo al top, Gabriele Minì è stato straordinario in queste particolari condizioni. Autore del miglior tempo nel suo gruppo, si è classificato quinto tra i 66 partecipanti al Campionato europeo. Ha fatto segnare tre giri più veloci in gara in occasione delle sue cinque manche di qualificazione ed è stato terzo sulla griglia di partenza della finale. Le posizioni si sono stabilite rapidamente e nonostante tutti gli sforzi non è riuscito ad attaccare i suoi rivali, anche se ha concluso a meno di tre decimi dal secondo con un altro giro più veloce in gara.
Buona operazione per il Campionato
Grazie ai 24 punti conquistati in Francia, Minì consente a Parolin di non essere troppo distaccato e di proseguire la competizione europea con le migliori speranze, quando invece i numerosi favoriti sono già abbastanza distaccati. La seconda prova del Campionato europeo FIA Karting – OK si svolgerà a Genk in Belgio tra meno di un mese.
Week-end difficile nella Junior
Sorpresi dalle peculiarità del circuito di Angerville, Brando Badoer e Martinius Stenshorne hanno vissuto un inizio di Campionato europeo complicato dopo le deludenti prove cronometrate. Il loro impegno per rimontare nelle manche di qualificazione ha dovuto fare i conti con vari incidenti e penalità che non gli hanno consentito di qualificarsi in finale.

Gabriele Mini’ et le team Parolin Racing ont su tirer les enseignements du Championnat de France d’Angerville pour préparer la 1re épreuve du Championnat d’Europe FIA Karting – OK qui se disputait sur le même circuit deux semaines plus tard. Grâce à un matériel extrêmement performant, le pilote sicilien a su passer à travers les embûches de cette course difficile pour conclure avec sagesse à la 3e place de la finale et du classement provisoire.
« C’est réconfortant de pouvoir compter sur le sang-froid d’un pilote comme Gabriele », commentait Marco Parolin. « Il a fait preuve d’un grand calme alors que l’affrontement sportif était porteur de nombreux risques, démontrant qu’il avait parfaitement intégré la stratégie d’un championnat sur quatre épreuves. Très rapide, il a signé plusieurs meilleurs tours en course dont celui de la finale, ce qui lui a permis d’atteindre le podium. Nous avons marqué grâce à lui des bons importants pour la suite de la confrontation européenne. Quant au Junior, je tiens à souligner la performance de Kucharczyk du Team Baby Race qui a démontré la qualité des châssis Parolin avec deux victoires en manches et la 7e position finale, ce qui lui vaut d’occuper la 4e place dans le championnat».
Il n’était en effet pas seulement question de performance pure à Angerville. L’épreuve comportait de nombreux risques comme l’ont montré les incidents fréquents et le nombre élevé de pénalités. De plus, les écarts étaient faibles entre les meilleurs et le tracé français n’était pas propice aux remontées ou aux dépassements fréquents. Au contraire, il était facile de tout perdre lors d’un accrochage.
Prestation très convaincante en OK
Pouvant compter sur un matériel au top, Gabriele Mini’ a excellé dans ces conditions particulières. Auteur du meilleur chrono de son groupe, il se classait 5e des 66 participants de ce Championnat d’Europe. Il réalisait trois meilleurs tours en course lors de ses cinq manches qualificatives et revenait en 3e position sur la grille de départ de la finale. Les positions se figeaient rapidement et malgré tous ses efforts il ne pouvait pas porter d’attaque sur ses rivaux, même s’il terminait à moins de trois dixièmes du second avec un nouveau meilleur tour en course.
Bonne opération pour le Championnat
Avec les 24 points marqués en France, Mini permet à Parolin de ne pas être distancé et de poursuivre la compétition européenne avec les plus grands espoirs alors que de nombreux favoris ont déjà pris du retard. La deuxième épreuve du Championnat d’Europe FIA Karting – OK se déroulera à Genk en Belgique dans moins d’un mois.
Week-end difficile en Junior
Déroutés par les spécificités du circuit d’Angerville, Brando Badoer et Martinius Stenshorne ont vécu une ouverture européenne compliquée après des essais chronos décevants. Leurs efforts pour remonter dans les manches qualificatives se sont heurtés à divers incidents et pénalités qui ne leur ont pas permis de se qualifier en finale.
