The Catalans, the sixth largest group of visitors who stay overnight in Barcelona

Visitors from around Catalonia as a whole are the sixth largest group by place of origin to stay in Barcelona’s hotels, even ahead of the Germans. In 2015 a total of 517,149 Catalans stayed overnight in the city’s establishments, representing 6.2% of the total number of tourists who chose this type of establishment.

From across Spain as a whole, the Catalans are followed by visitors from Madrid (345,946, 4.2% of the total); the Basque Country (175,903, 2.1%); Andalusia (143,552, 1.7%); the Valencian Community (127,321, 1.5%), Aragon (52,680, 0.6% of the total) and the Balearic Islands (49,886, 0.6%).

A total of 1,686,333 Spanish visitors stayed in the city’s hotels in 2015, representing 20.3%, considerably ahead of the next most important nationalities (United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy and Germany).
