Alex Yee and Hayden Wilde will resume their battle for supremacy as Super League Triathlon’s biggest ever Championship Series kicks-off in London on Sunday, September 4.

Wilde ruined Yee’s Olympic homecoming party by taking the win in West India Quay last year, but the Londoner is gunning for revenge this weekend as he returns to race in front of a bumper crowd having just beaten the New Zealander to the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Another intriguing battle taking place on the streets of London sees Georgia Taylor-Brown, who like Yee goes into the Championship Series as defending champion, lining up against French star Cassandre Beaugrand, an intense rivalry which is building ahead of the Paris Olympics.

The tight and technical cobblestoned course is a tough test for the athletes in the first of five rounds of Super League racing throughout September and October. The event is entirely free for spectators to watch with the action starting at 12pm and offers the chance to get closer to the action than any other triathlon, as well as the opportunity to see the athletes many times as the absorbing action unfolds in the short, sharp and exciting Triple Mix race format.

Speaking of the Yee v Wilde head-to-head, four-time World Champion, and boss of the SLT Eagles, Tim Don, said: “Alex’s strength is his momentum and run ability, and he’s learning his craft with every race. Alex got the better of him in the Commonwealth Games, where that run in the relay was magnificent. I worry that Hayden has taken on too much.. Alex wants to be world champion this year. He’s a local lad and will be hard to beat.”

Super League’s 2022 Championship Series also sees the return of some revamped favourites including the SLT Teams concept, with athletes having been selected via a draft, the innovative Short Chute, which allows athletes to win a shortcut on the course, and the 90 second rule which sees athletes who fall off the back eliminated from the race. The athletes are racing for a share of $1.4m in prize money in 2022.

The events have a huge global broadcast footprint, including the BBC, Eurosport, Discovery+, DAZN, L’equipe and Outside TV, as well as on Super League Triathlon’s YouTube channel. To find your local broadcaster please visit our website.
