Together with the Agència Catalana de Turisme (Catalan Tourism Agency), Turisme de Barcelona is organizing a trade mission to China from November 14th to 18th with 12 companies from the city’s tourism sector.
The aim of the trip, which will include two workshops in Beijing and Shanghai, is to present Barcelona and Catalonia as destinations to the Asian giant’s leading travel agents.
Spending by Chinese travellers often doubles the average expenditure by other tourists. The Chinese also like to visit natural areas close to the city, thus helping to decentralize tourism. An increase has also been noted in the number of Chinese who organize their own trips and stay for long periods.
The companies taking part in the trade mission will have the opportunity to present their products to leading travel agents from both cities. As a complementary activity, the Catalan companies will also be given two sessions by specialists on the Chinese tourism market.
